Is it me, or do we need to start looking for a new safety to replace Roy Williams

Its a good thing Trent Green doesnt have an arm or they could have exposed Roy for the LB that he is

other than that, Im pumped about this team!

The defense will improve as time goes on...but we definitely need Newman back. Him being out exposes Roy too much. Good thing the offense is rolling, helps keep the D off the field :D

so far so good. next week will be the first real test.

Roy Williams is a bad safety when you're talking about coverage. Dude constantly gets exposed. I think hes only there for the big hits!

Couldnt agree more. Newman is a top 5 NFL coverman, and without him is exposing his side of the field.

Definately the truth. Williams was a stud the first couple seasons but after that he got soft on coverage and since the rule change of "horsecollering" he seems out of synch

he was at his best when Woodson was still here and healthy. Roy didn't have to cover...all he had to do was make big plays and hit people.

roy isn't a cover saftey, he was not at oklahoma either. He is 10 pounds away from being a line backer. He's much much better on blitzes and closer to the line. Having Newman back will make our defence seem millions times better pass wise.

LVI
09-18-2007, 11:48 AM
Dont worry boys, as the Skins 2-0 record is a false record. They barely beat Miami and Philly, where we thumped Miami and our offence redesigned the air attack against the Giants.
Once our defensive secondary is healthy(hopefully soon), we will finish 11-5, if not 12-4. Capture the NFC East and roll into the playoffs.
Tony Romo has totally surprised me this season. I know he was a probowl QB last year, but i really didnt think that he would be starting off better this year than he was last year. It's awesome that him and TO have found each other. IMO, a healthy TO and Romo will get us to the Superbowl. With a Healthy Barber and Jones will be icing on the cake.

he cant even cover a FB out of the backfield
his big hits are going away too
ive seen him run over many times this year, the worst one being by ahman gree in the texans pre-season game.

Bears defense is still a shut down D but they cant stop everything. Also, lets not forget about the interceptions that Gross-QB-man is going to throw that we'll return for TD's

Cowboys should win. Even against a stoud D. The Bear's O is anemic, they have 1 TD all year. Grossman is a joke, even our D the way it is now should shut their O completly down. If newman comes back, forget it. Bears have two things working for them, soild pass rush, and home crowd. If romo keep his cool and doesn't wait too long in pocket, or can scramble halfway, cowboys should walk away (not run, walk) from da bears.

Cowboys 20- Bears 13

Cowboys 20- Bears 13

I can see the Boys winning 16-6. 1 TD by Romo to Whitten. All the other pts by both teams coming via FG's. Grossmen isnt good enought to pass for a TD against us. And the Bears D is solid enough to bend but not break, thus allowing us to rattle off a ton of FG's.
Regardless, we will come out 3-0.

Upside-

Romo- He's legit
Julius Jones-good, Marion Barber even BETTER!
Should beat the Redskins twice this year.

Not sure about Wade Phillips yet, we'll see.

Downside-

Terry Glenn out
I still get nervous when people go long on our secondary.

I agree with all of that except the JJ part.. I can't say that Julius is very solid

This was supposed to be his breakout year, too, but he still looks the same to me. Runs into the pile and falls over for a 2 yard gain on first down.

Yeah true, the only problem is that they haven't tried featuring MBIII since 2005. JJ needs to get hurt and be out for a game or two so we can see what we have in MBIII as far as handling all of the carries for a game.

Don't be so sure. Their corners are some what of a question. Also, the Rams haven't won a game this season. When teams are zero for the season, they tend to have a break out game. There is a lot of pressure in St Louis to get in the winning column. Plus, they are still capable of putting an air attack. I don't think the Rams will beat the Cowboys, but I do expect a good effort from them.

he's been practicing more, and should be in nickle/dime package this weekend. they also plan on adding playing time from last weekend. it was also stated Ellis had his best practice of the year yesterday, and an outside chance he might play this weekend. but they've been saying that every week.

Jackson out, Bulger playing with 2 broken ribs. and the o-line missing 4 starters. that doesn't sound good for the Rams. the good thing for them, the Cowboys haven't put much pressure on QBs. Spencer need to play better. Ellis is 50/50 to play.

Rams' Bruce guarantees win over Cowboys

12:55 AM CDT on Friday, September 28, 2007

The St. Louis Rams' injury problems - running back Steven Jackson is out with a partially torn groin and quarterback Marc Bulger is playing with two broken ribs - hasn't left receiver Isaac Bruce at a loss for confidence.

Bruce, during his weekly radio show, guaranteed a Rams victory over the 3-0 Cowboys on Sunday.

"I applaud him for putting in efforts to motivate our team," Rams coach Scott Linehan said. "Certainly, that's bulletin-board material for probably the best team in the NFC right now. It probably doesn't sound like the thing you should be doing. But it's important that we change what we're doing, how we do things, how we think, to enable us to get started."

Because of injuries, the Rams' center is the only offensive lineman who was in their Game 1 alignment.

Johnson was issued an eight-game suspension by the NFL in June for violating the league's personal conduct policy, stemming from a jail-term sentence this past spring for violation of probation. There is a chance the suspension could be reduced to six games.

So I guess it means maybe week 7?

we'll beat the Rams by 28 easily

Don't be so sure. Their corners are some what of a question. Also, the Rams haven't won a game this season. When teams are zero for the season, they tend to have a break out game. There is a lot of pressure in St Louis to get in the winning column. Plus, they are still capable of putting an air attack. I don't think the Rams will beat the Cowboys, but I do expect a good effort from them.

Looks like my prediction came true. Go Cowboys.

The machine keeps rolling and Romo's legend keeps growing.

They are very impressive in the second half. They just wear on teams and then the flood gates open. They are really close to going off in the first half as well...a couple of dropped passes here and there on third down is what is keeping them bottled up early.

The Pats game will be a good test and we will see where we are...although that game doesn't make or break the season one way or the other.

We need to make sure we finish strong this year...that has been the downfall that last 2 seasons....not winning in December.

GO BOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

False.

First half of each game they haven't done well. If you get a team that doesn't suck ass like the 4 teams Dallas played so far, things are not going to go so well without a consistent performance for 4 qtrs. Rams are argueably the worst team in the league and had a 7-7 game with them throughout most of the first half of the game.

you can't discount what the Cowboys have done simply because of who they've played. They are killing the teams that they are supposed to be beating...teams in previous years haven't been able to do that.

They will find a way to do what they need to do against each team they face. they may not win each game...but they have the talent to beat anybody...slow start/strong finish or strong start/slow finish...a win is a win.

They are doing an MRI this morning; however, initial reports from team doctors say a very minor high ankle sprain. It was a close game for 3 quarters. The boys finished them off late in the game, like they been doing in every game.

Edit: This is not my definition of a blowout, but every one has a different interpretation of a blowout. It's like a baseball game, where a team is trailing by one going into the 8th inning. The opposing team adds on 10 runs in the bottom of the inning and the final score ends up having a team win by 10+ runs. The final score my show a defeat by huge margin, but it will not tell the whole story.

No luck about it. You don't turn the ball over 6 times and still win by luck. Dallas' defense stuffed their offense and the Offense rose to the occasion at the end. Everything was going the Bills way and Dallas was able to overcome it.

Although this was an ugly, sloppy win it proved how mentally tough the Cowboys are. They didn't give up and accept losing. They fought it out and over came adversity! That means more and is worth more to a team than anything. The Patriots will the biggest challenge yet but it can't get any worse than last night. Whose to say that the Patriots won't have ****ty game next week. The Cowboys proved that they're a team to be reckond with and will rise to any challenge that lays before them. Now that's a dangerous team in the NFL.

on a positive note, the defense really performed well
i know its against a weak offense with a rookie qb, but they played like they should have

if romo played half ass decently, this wouldnt have been a close game

we were lucky though
the ending kind of reminded me of the giants game last year wehre romo hit witten for a 40 yrd pass with time running out, then they kicked the game winning field goal

Wishful thinking. The Patriots aren't indestructable they have their weaknesses too. Not to mention Brady can and will have his bad games. We'll see come Sunday. We know that the Cowboys can regain composure and pull out a win when it really matters.

the Pats arent indestructable but overall they have a slight edge in everything
Brady and the Pats had a bad game against the Browns
Twice they had 1st and Goal inside the 5 and settled for FGs
Thru the first 4 games Brady had 25 incompletions
Against the Browns on Sunday he had 16 incompletions

Belichic had to lot to get on his players for
The Pats should win a good game somewhat comfortably, but because its at Dallas.....it will be even closer and more uncomfortable

the boys have to get back to running the ball
the bills d just played a basic cover 2 and made romo beat them
they didnt have to bring the LBsup to stop the run, just keep them dropped back to cover whitten

they need to stick with marion barber and grind it out against the pats cause im confident that the pats are salivating over how the bills d shut down romo

only put in jones to give barber some rest and keep the pats offense off the field
when they establish the run(if they can as the pats d-line is solid), then they can open up the play action pass
its going to be a tough game

With the way CBS is gonna hype it, it's gotta be national. Unless ya got a local team playing on a competing channel.

Heres a little tidbit I found interesting:

Wade Wilson is the only other QB to throw 5 picks and still win the game. He did it in 86 against the bears. He just so happens to be romo's QB Coach. GO COWBOYS!!

The 5 was for sack yards lost, not INTs. Yeah, I read it wrong too at first.

This was an indicator that our pass defense needs a lot of work. I'm glad we lost because better now then later. This will allow us to make the proper adjustment so that we can get better from here on out. I give credit to the Pats for their victory. We can get better and definitely beat the Pats once Terry Glenn is back and our defense shapes up.

This was an indicator that our pass defense needs a lot of work. Our pass defense has sucked for a long time, every week, and every team gets those easy 5 to 10 yard passing plays that kills us

percussion8903
10-15-2007, 12:53 PM
I don't care if the final score was 100-27, we still beat them on the 1st half so there is still hope.

edit: cant remember where.

Valid point. Now we can focus on the rest of the season and the playoffs, tweak what needs to be tweaked. And Fix whats broken. regardless of the loss(as somebody has to lose a game) we are still the class of the NFC.
