This is a little delayed but because of the advice of others here is my progress to date. Bit of catching up to do but hope you can follow in with my progress with me. A few to follow up on. Would love your comments as they help with the motivation, please read on... Start with my first week back in June.

Current stats

Weight as of 14.06.07

21st 4lbs (298lbs)

Target weight as of 26.04.08

15st (210lbs)

Height is 6ft 2?

Was previously in 1999 19st 13lbs (279lbs)

I managed to lose this weight previously and get down to 14st 8lbs, my lowest ever body weight and my BF% was about 14%. My best achievement yet.

Life was good, I was single and enjoying my new slim line body. Weight training was intense, muscle was coming alone and with a bit of flexing I could see my top two abs. My ultimate aim was to see my ?six pack? but I never got my BF that low.

After meeting my fianc?e in 2003 and settling down, the gym went out the window as I ?didn?t have time?. My eating also turned to takeaways and the drinking wasn?t under control.

As you can see from the stats the weight has all come back on and more. I?m bigger now than ever but have finally got the push I needed to get back into things. So far I?m doing really well but its early days.

I plan on giving fairly regular reports on all areas, and definitely plan on taking and posting progress pics for you to firstly laugh at, and then hopefully congratulate me on

With regards to weights? This week I?m just getting my muscles used to resistance again, next week I?ll be starting to lift properly.

Please find picture taken about 2 months ago.

I?ll embarrass myself futher by taking a shirt off body shot shortly.

First week, progress made
Well I’ve finally started the ball rolling…

I’ve managed to lose 3lbs in 4 days, all of which I’d like to think is fat, but the measurements will tell of that in the future. I’ve also started to lift properly now and not play about with the weights, even adding squats which I’ve always hated doing, which I actually loved yesterday.

My legs are aching like mad today and I can barely walk. Shoulder pressing was good, but had some pain after, although that seems to be easing now.

Will post lifts and stats later when I get chance.

I’ve decided that I’m going to try and post more often giving my thoughts and informing all of my activities or lack off. I want to be able to look back over these blogs as a reference in the years to come to see exactly what I’ve done, and where I was at back then (here).

Didn’t manage any gym work today (Monday) as haven’t been feeling great, besides I’m still suffering with DOM’S from doing squats last Thursday! Gotta admit that this muscle soreness is kicking my backside a tad and they seem to last for 4 days at least before clearing.

I hope this all eases once I get into the routine and things become more regular.

Plan on an early night tonight and a early rise tomorrow.

Gym attack plan is as follows…

Chest and Triceps, exercises will be…

Bench press, either smith machine or free weight bench, depends on if my training partner comes along, which I doubt as he does Monday, Weds, Fri.

Dumbbell Press. I don’t need a spotter for this, I’ll just get to it. Maybe I should take the same approach for benching?

Dumbbell Fly or Pulley Crossovers.

Plan 3 exercises for chest and two for triceps, maybe 1 depending on time. I only get Min’s max in the mornings and can only train before work.

Triceps…

Triceps push downs using Cable Pulley.

Will keep you all posted tomorrow. Can’t wait.

Woke this morning to the alarm at 6:15am, hopped out the bed and started to get ready for the gym.

For the first time in a very long time I felt apprehensive about going and this was mainly because it was weigh in day.

I was pretty excited but wasn’t sure I’d have hit my target weight as I haven’t been perfect in my eating, but less so with training. This was partly due to illness at the weeks beginning and then recovering from that.

As the title gives the game away, I can happily report that I’ve lost 5lbs in weight this week. Well below where I was expecting to be. This is both good and bad, good because I’m obviously moving to my goal weight pretty quickly, but bad as this obviously means that I’m probably losing what ever lean mass I have.

I’m hoping the weight training I’m doing is going to counter this, I also hope that because I’ve got so much to lose that this is just to be expected.

Weights are up slightly and I’ll post my lifts for the charts also.

Well excited.

Two weeks and nearly an inch lost
The title says it all really. I managed to get five minutes tonight to just grab the tape measure and take reading.

As I had done previously I located the largest section of my waist, i.e my navel round the back taking in the massive love handles at their most impressive and the reading was about 54.2 ish. I’ve logged it as 54.5.

Obviously very happy so far, and keeping focused. Although I’ve found it hard when old colleagues come in and joke about the none weight loss… Gits.

Another 3lbs lost
Still moving in the right direction. Last Friday another 3lbs lost at the gym. A little disappointed with training at the moment as time seems to be tight. I had planned to train at least 5 times a week, but by doing this and only training 3 I guess its not too bad.

I know the time will come soon when I need to ramp up the training to keep the results coming. Right now my weekly eating is fine, although things usually go west come the weekend, especially if its a weekend off from work.

Plan on losing 2lbs this week, which is back on my planned weekly loss, however I’m sure I should be losing more really as I’m a big chap.

Again gonna try and blog a bit more and get some lifts updated along with body stats. Need to get them charts going

Have I lost weight or not?
The above is exactly what I was thinking on my Friday weigh in.

As I stood on the scales I was devastated to see that I hadn’t lost any weight at all. I’d worked so hard all week and I had nothing to show for it. The real reason and blame had to be closer to home, and it certainly was.

I’d been cheating pretty much all weekend previously and subsequently was paying the price for it. I had to work my butt off all week to loose the 4lbs I’d gained. The good news was that I managed to do it… But what a lot of wasted effort!

On the plus side though, after inspecting the weighing ticket, I realised that I had actually lost 1lb and mistook the L in lb as the number 1. So the weight loss is continuing.

Kick some ass :)
Finally! I’ve managed to break another barrier. I’ve finally managed to drop into another St(UK Weighing) bracket. I’m now weighing in at 19st 12lbs.

I’m very happy with that, especially as I’ve spent the weekend with family and we didn’t really hold back with the eating and socialising. It was also nice to see my mother and father and for them to comment on my weight loss. They are both very excited and happy that I’m making the push again to regain my former physique.

My suites for work are getting a little large and I’m in desperate need for new clothes and more so for a notch or two stamped into my belt.

Its strange though as I’ve taken the tape measure out and my waist doesn’t seem to have shrunken at all. I’m still measuring about 52" around the navel. Its a little disappointing but I’m definitely losing weight. I can even pull my trousers down with my belt on if I wiggle

Its also time for some more progress pictures, and these babies have always been the proof in the pudding. I hope these show progress to help keep the motivation going.

I’m still a little concerned about the limited time I have to train. Currently I only get at the most 30mins a day to train, this is 5 days a week (and sometimes I because of commitments with a little baby these can’t be met). What this does show is that diet is king, and even with this limited time I’m still losing pounds, and I’m hoping with the the increased weights that I’m lifting that what I am losing is the nasty fat.

I’m feeling good and determined not to gain in any week while reaching my goals.

Thank you all for your support its awesome.

Silly boy!…
Knew it would happen. I’ve managed for the first time this week to not only lose weight, but gain back some lbs

Not looking for any sympathy as I know exactly where I went wrong and it started with a day off (Tuesday) doing the garden, and drinking some beer… 6 cans of beer… Then a Chinese afterwords too, and a bit more drink to boot.

My body is like a sponge. If I take advantage it loves to store it as a trophy. eg FAT

This is exactly why I put the weight back on in the first place. The difference this time around is that I’m going to be monitoring everything. And I’m not going to let a 2lb set back stop me.

I do realise that this has set me back at least two weeks of training and diet. To recover from this I’ll have to be very strict, but more importantly I have to ask myself… Was it worth it?

NO IT F ING WASN’T.

Lesson learned… Get a grip. Doh!

Managed to get back on track!
Well I managed something I didn’t think would happen. I lost not only my 2lbs to get back to where I was but I lost 4lbs to get back on course.

I managed this with no gym work this week which is again testament to a good diet. The reason for not going to the gym is due to our beautiful daughter not sleeping well. She’s been waking up at about 4am, which has been to early for me to stay up and think of the gym and to late to get a good rest in. So I’ve been working hard on the dieting, which has obviously worked.

I’m going to do my best to hit the gym everyday this week to reinforce on this and I’ll be reporting back on progress as usual.

Officially put two pounds back on, but last week I didn’t take my weight reading via the usual scales at the gym. I went off my scales at home which are a set of Tanita.

To be honest there’s not much in it, but I want to keep things true and on track.

I’m on course to lose again this week so things are going well. Need to increase the weight training and gym activity though.

Still going in the right direction, and I’ve got about 9lbs to lose in the next 5 weeks before my holiday’s.

Wow, over 1000 hits now…
I’m impressed that my bodyspace has hit a magic number of hits now. Nice to see that a few of you are watching and some keeping in touch.

This week I’ve lost a good amount of weight, however I’ve not been to the gym at all, which I’m obviously gutted about. Various things have kept me away, but its no excuse! The one thing I have managed to keep a hold on has been my diet. And I feel my diet is the only thing that has keep the weight loss moving forward.

I seem to have lost a lot of weight this week, but worry that this may have been valued muscle as I’ve not completed any Resistance training. I’m glad I’m still heading in the right direction but I need to re-focus and realise that for me to lose the fat rather than weight, I need to hit the gym. I need to get the weights done.

Even if I can’t make the gym for whatever reason, I should make the time while at home to do some Resistance training. Doing pressups and squats without weight will definitely benefit me. I can use the weight I’m carrying to do this. Some training is better than none at all?

Will report back next week with some hardcore training… Promise to myself.

Been working hard this week…
After my layoff from the gym (two weeks)… No real excuse really. It all started with my little girl not sleeping well, then I got into a silly routine of just turning the alarm off and not getting up in the mornings to train.

Back at it this week. Been 3 times and done some hard training, which has brought on some mega doms. Me being silly thinking I could just kick back into it again, not realising that the layoff had set me back. Not to worry I like the reminder my muscles are giving me.

Lost another 1lb this week. Id actually lost a few more last week but didn’t want to post the total loss as I knew it was probably muscle I was losing.

To lose weight really is 80% diet and 20% training, the problem is this… I’ve lost more weight while not training then when I was. This is why I surmise that the lose must have been muscle which is not the way forward.

Back to training hard regardless of how tired I am… Diet is going well, weights going good too.

CV will need to be brought in soon I’m sure to really start kicking some ass.

Thanks for reading. Doing well

1lb lost…
1lb lost is better than 1lb gained

Had my full quota at the gym this week, been 3 times and lifted heavy and intensely every time. Loved it, loved every session. Diet is still pretty good and things are moving in the right direction.

I have two weeks now until we go away to Turkey for two weeks holiday. My short term goal which I set a few weeks ago was to get down to my next st barrier before we went away. I wanted to be 18st something before we flew out. To do this I have to lose 3lbs this week and another 3lbs next week.

Going to be a tough ask but I’m sure I can do it especially if I stick to my new training plan.

I want to go back to a 4 day a week split routine, with the 5th day being purely cardio focused. This extra training may just push me further forward to that ultimate goal for next April.

Thanks for reading, will keep posting.

Holiday time...

Well I’m off now for two weeks, which means two weeks with no updates.

Good news is that I’ve lost another 2lbs again this week, I just hope I can minimize the weight gain while away for two weeks on an all inclusive holiday. I’m certainly going to enjoy myself, after all thats what hols are about. Thankfully there is a gym at the hotel we’re stopping at, and I’m really going to make an effort to use it to the max. I’ll be eating more and drinking more, but if I can hit the gym and not go over board this may just benefit me.

I’ll report back with an instant weigh in and post on the 15th of October.

Lets see what happens. Even if I do gain weight its no biggie, I’m in this for the life change not a diet.

Wish me luck all and I’ll see you all again in a few weeks.

I’ll be having fun.
