I've heard they're a great carb, then I've heard they're high on the gi...so, yes or no? What do you think about this veggie?

yes. I can't stand sweet potatoes. Just don't make them a staple of your diet.

yeah they are fine as long as you dont eat them fasted without any other macronutrients in the meal :p

i have a red potato (still white, but redish/pink skin) everyday now :) with tuna... i ussually cant eat tuna by it self, but some how potato and tuna helps me get the 100g tuna down real good.

i love white potatoes :)

i just switched over from oats/banana/whey pwo to a white potato/banana/whey shake. i dont know if ill see any difference but time will tell. but its actually pretty good tasting.

hey man,

being a big guy naturally, eating too many pototoes can be bad. Pototoes are great carbs, but yes high in GI. I suggest that if your a bigger guy then if you are going to eat them, eat them in the AM, and if your small, eat and eat and don't worry about when you do! Also remember to eat some form of meat or protein w/ the carbs at all times, this will help you from storing the starches and so forth from the pototoe as fats. Pototoes are great, but in moderation IMO..

How often would you eat a baker? (per week) and, how many carbs are in a normal sized potato?

depending on your bodytype you can have pototoes daily, it won't kill you. Just eat in rations.

According to my nutrition software..haha..

A medium sized baked pototoe with skin has..

27.7 g carbs
2 g protein
0.13 g fat
3.7 g of fiber

Rougly 120 calories.

I eat baked potatoes a lot. They are high in nutrients and very cheap. The fact that they are high GI is relative considering you probably wouldn't be eating it in a fasted state, with no other macronutrients. You throw anything else into that mix (fiber,fat,protein) and your whole GI scale is skewed to hell. And then you can take into consideration whatever meal you had prior to the potato; as that too will have results on the impending GI. You can do worse than a good wholesome white potato.
