Hey Everybody,

I'm clean bulking and have found myself fairly hungry at various times throughout the day, in spite of eating every 2-4 hours. Should I increase my calories, or should I wait and see if I can gain weight on my current intake (2500-2700 kcal/day)?

Thanks!

i can't believe ur hungry on a bulk but i think it'd be safe for you to increase your calories. do you know what your maintenance level is?

I'm not really sure, but based on my genetics and activity level I'd ballpark around 2,200. It may be a bit more, but I'm trying to go slow on this.

Do you track your diet and when you're hungry? You might be hungry from what you eat and not how much you eat. Also hunger and thirst are often confused.

Unless you gain fat easily I'd say eat when you're hungry.

As a general calculation they say that you should multiply your bodyweight by 15 for maintenance... in your case it'd be 2400, and add 500 for bulking and you get 2900. Increase your calories to around 3,000 and track your results. If you find that you're gaining more 2lbs of bodyweight a week then you're eating too much.

At nearly 160 i would say u shuold be shooting for about 2900-3k cals depending on ur physical activity level!

are u fairly moving all day or do u have mostly a sedentary day?

and if ur hungry i would suggest snacking on a protein bar, or sipping on a protein shake to keep u going since ur bulking

as for ur meals? are u eating enough.. i take in more cals then u at 140.. maybe u need to bump up the cals

lasty are u gaining weight? keep us informed

sure veggies are great.. but on a bulk i would suggest having a bite of a protein bar or something.. veggies would be essential durnig a cut while ur hungry or having some water.. seeing he needs calories and it seems like his calories taking in right now are under what he should take.. i would suggest bumping it up a bit if at all possible

Thanks for the input, everybody.

Thus far, I've been succumbing to my hunger for the most part and feel that I've put on way too much bodyfat, in spite of a lot of cardio and cross training (a total of 10-12 workouts/week).

I think I'll try to keep calories down by filling up on a lot of veggies and a little bit of fruit. What do you think is a "safe" upper-limit for training days?

Thanks again!

everyone is different, so i'd say eat more that you're still comfortable with and see where you're at in a week or two. you shouldn't be gaining more than 2-3 lbs while bulking.
