View Full Version : howdo you add up your carbs (newbie)

Hi- this is my first time on the forums and posting as well. Ive been lifting for about 3yrs now but my dieting is horrible. im trying to add my carbs and what not but im only getting about 242 a day. I weigh 220 and im 6ft1. Basically am i adding the carbs wrong? im eating about 6 meals a day (4 heavy carb days and 2 lite). Also i am eating lots potatoes, pasta, etc.. my main goals is to gain more mass. thanks

try www.fitday.com if your trying to gain muscle, eat more protein than carbs.

thanks, ithought you had to increase both your protien and carbs?

You need good fats, protein, and carbs all in your diet. But excessive amounts of carbs will turn into fat. Carbs serve as a source of energy, and when you do not use all of the energy they have provided for you, it becomes stored as fat. You want to make sure that the carbs you are eating are good carbs as well, things like sweet potatos, oatmeal.. you want to avoid processed foods as much as you can.. things like the pasta, breads.. you should check out this link.
