View Full Version : Workouts before bed and food????

I work out everynight at about 930 and go to bed every night about midnight. I was wondering....

Should i have some sort of post workout snack after i get home from the gym or should i not eat anything so close to going to bed? I eat dinner at about 6 everynight. Needless to say im hungry after my workout, but I know your not supposed to eat right before going to bed, but i also know you should feed your muscles right after a workout. can someone please help me out with this???

It's fine to eat before bed.

I work the over night shift, get off work at 5:30 am, go to the gym and in bed by 9am.

A "after the workout" mean is very important. I usually eat a cup of oats mixed with a scoop of whey, milk and a banana.

I know exactly what your taking about.. However
After-Workout-Meal > Sleep

I usualy eat a bowl of vector/oats/whey/blueberries/banana and maybe a can of salmon late at night. Consequently, I'm awake untill about 12-1:00 am every night.
It's kinda ****ty, but it's either that or seriously hindering my growth and repair.
If anyone can suggest some foods high in carbs and protien that won't send me buzzing, I'd be greatful aswell.

high in carbs = pasta.. high in protein = chicken

make a good 5-6 oz of pasta and toss in some cut up chicken strips in there and take it down

or make some oats and mix it with some whey and milk and mix it 2gether and throw it in the freezer while u take a shower after ur workout.. then when u get out and get dressed pull it out and BAM a nice thick PWO meal :) its amazing give it a shot and let me know

Im glad to hear the responses are coming back positive for eating before bed. My six pack has diminished a little bit as of late so im trying to cut down my body fat. I was affraid that eating before bed would just let that food sit there and it would not help in reaching my goal. Thanks for the help.

you should eat a full meal between your workout and bedtime. a shake is digested quikly and wont give your growing muscles the nutrition they need through out the night. the shake is better than nothing but something like oats and red meat would be best before bed because of the slow digestion rate
