I am 5'9'' and 180lbs. My coach told me that maybe I should change my workouts to higher reps and lower weight.

hes prbly worried that if u get too dense ull get slower. thats actually true for swimmers... yes, higher reps will work and im sure 5x15 will be fine. Why don't u just swim like 4 hours a day like all my swimmer friends do and workout like maybe once every 4 days.

You know that's 225 reps per workout right? As long as you lift, you'll be gaining size. If you want to stop gaining size, I suggest cutting down how much you lift. Someone said why not swim more and lift every 4 days.. that sounds like an awesome idea.

wait... why 5x15 in the first place...

5x15? no. maybe change it up to like 3-4X12 or so, but not 15. either way you will still gain size no matter how much or how little you lift.

Gaining size depends on ur diet. correct? I want to to get stronger.

5x5 is a pretty low volume program to begin with. Id suggest going with less swimming or go with a different routine. Bill Starr said dont f*ck with the routine, so why would you? Im sure he knows more about his routine than any of us...
