View Full Version : seems that i gained a little weight @ love handles?

i am not sure if it is jsut me but i started to realize this past week taht i gained some love handles all of the sudden.

now i am a lean guy and have a really fast metabolism
i am 5'9 175 been working out for 5 years and know my body pretty well and have never seen it like this.


its not bad, but to me i am noticing.

it could be one of these things.




-2 scoops of muscle milk before bed w\ milk
-stopped doing abs every day and been doingthem 2 x a week
-been having 1 extra gainer shake w\honey whey and natty pb
-been doing 5 reps for everything

i have never had this problem and it only happened in the past *max 2 weeks. I dont need to hit the cardio cause i am too lean to begin with and i am still going heavy and cant afford to get any leaner.


any suggestions(my best guess is that i need to go back to doing abs every day(5 days a aweek)

It could be only one thing. Taking in more calories than you use. Litghten up on the food, or increase the exercise. Also do you do oblique exercises? this can also ad to bigger love handles.

i do alot of ab work, including lots of oblique work.


i take in 3000 cals a day and work out 5 days a week dont think it is the call intake.

mabey i should only do hangin knee raises\leg lifts\and crunches for ab work and go back to every day ab work, and buy a low cal pm protein.

No one else is responding cause the answer is already there. You wanna lose the handles, reduce cals or up activities. Unless your takin like heaps of dex p/w, try to cut out something else.

abs need to be treated like every other muscle out there, which is why u shouldnt bee working them out every day, they need rest

yes u must lower ure cals to get rid of the handels

Fat does not develop because of lack of muscle in a specific area. You should know that it is the extra calories that result in fat. 3000 cals at 175 lbs and 0 cardio seems to be a bulk, and with a bulk the fat always comes. The problem is your eats.

Well how about i clean up my bulk like this.


take out the dext and sugar post workout w\creatine.
no more ice cream
no more gatorade
no more milk w\protein shakes.
no more honey natty pb w shakes

cut back on the cheese burgers and stick to the grilled chicken



hopefully this will help me get my abs back to tip top shape like they were.



any more suggestions post em.

I hate the word "love handles". That just sounds like it's bad.


I prefer to call mine "back fat". That sounds better :D

I think you answered your own question. You have upped your calories while at the same time reducing your caloric expensiture. Add it up!!!

well gonna try to clean up my diet a little cause i am looking heavier and that is what i need, but gotta watch the love handles

Is it possible for me to fix my diet and loose the love handles without cardio.


Cause I sitll need to grow some more muslce in my legs, and there is no way i would gain mass while cutting.


i need to put on a couple cleaner lbs still.

There is also no way not to gain mass without putting on a little fat. OK, you could take in your bodies EXACT calorie requirements for building and repairing muscule and not a calorie over, good luck calculating that.

I dont mind doing cardio, buti dont want ot loose any muscle.

Just cut out the cheeses and the high fat dairy. It looks like you take in alot of fat dude. When I bulked I tried to stay real low on fat and high on carbs and protein. I am cutting now but you have to expect some fat dude. Just as long as you can see your abs you are doing well with bulking. I am a littel opposite than you. I gain a lot of weight when bulking( I gained 50 the last 8 months) then cut 20 pounds off of it.

that is how i see it also, i still have the abs so it is allgood.


i am jsut being real careful cause it is summer and all.


it sucks with all the water i drink my m6 pack sticks out like a gut lol. looks like ronnie coleman. lol



cutting out cheeses iceream milk honey and eating lot more grilled chicken and rice

HERE IS A SAMPLE OF MY DAILY INTAKE.


MEAL 1- BAGEL W\LOTS OF CREAMCHEESE
2-pasta w\ chicken
3-pasta w\ chicken and bannana
4-gainer shake (2 scoops whey honey and natty pb and milk)
5-post workout creatine w\2 scoop of whey and dex
then 45 minutes later baked potato and steak and large salad
6-muscle milk w\flax seed oil



between the day i eat light icecream
and drink gallon of water
and drink couple cups of fat free milk
fruits here and there as well

you should get rid of cream cheese and put some lean mean on it or monterey jack cheese with tomato. Drink lots of fat free milk. I drink around a gallon a day and I am cutting and it is working great.

meal1-bagel w\cream chees fat free yogurt and a bannana 16pz of water
meal2-turkey w\lettuce tomato and pepers sub and a bannana
meal3- 2 natty pb sandwiches on whole grain bread
meal4- 2 scoops of ON
meal 5-(post workout) 2 scoops of ON w glutamine.
45 minutes later chicken and rice and salad and 16 oz of water
meal 6 chicken w\ rice again
meal7 pm protein shake


along with this i drink 1 gallon of water.

what you guys think
i cut out the skim milk due to the love handles
