Hey, I just heard about greek yogurt's nutritional profile, and wanted to add it to my diet. I've never tried it though. I tried plain yogurt and hated it. Does greek taste any different, or is the texture different either? I guess I could spice it up with some sugar free syrups or stevia. Thanks for any replies.

It is pretty different from yogurt, my stepmom eats it a lot. It's more tart, I like it more than regular yogurt. It's wonderful with honey, but SF syrup would be just as good :-)

It's wonderful!

It's much less tart than regular plain yogurt, or at least the kind I get is. It is more tart than the sugar loaded fruit flavored kind, but you can add some honey(just a tad) and walnuts on top which is fantastic!

The whole fat kind tastes the best, and is the least sour, but the fat is pretty high. The low fat is much closer in tartness to the plain lowfat, so the biggest difference is the texture.

Even the lowfat is thick & creamy, probably a bit thicker tahn sour cream, but very similar.

I think that it is basically plain yogurt that is strained, so much of the liquid is removed.

I think it tastes close to yocheese (yocheese is simply plain yogurt that you put into a lined mesh collander that has paper towels in, dump the yogurt into it, and put it over a kettle/pot, and let it drain overnight in the fridge). both are addicting to me. I used to have it, added some sweetener and vanilla, and fresh fruit. Or you could add some sugar free syrup.

Greek yogurt is so much better than the regular plain stuff. I usually top mine with some fruit and walnuts or I mix some of my home made granola/oats in with it.

My stepmom buys hers at Trader Joe's I think, I dunno about regular grocery stores though. It can probably be found in larger ones with a wide range of foods.
