is egg yolk bad for you? i've been reading peoples diets around here, and they always say " # egg whites" never just "eggs." Do you dislike the taste of yolk? or is it higher in cholesterol than the rest of the egg? Or is the white the only part with protein??

I think dietary cholesterol is the main problem with the yolks, but I could be wrong.

The yolk has all of the fat. Saturated fat is in the yolk. Saturated Fat=Bad Fat

I eat at least one whole egg a day. The egg yolk has a lot of good stuff in it. There is at least one study that suggest or concludes dietary cholesterol does not effect your total cholesterol. I beleive most people avoid the yolks because of the cholesterol it contains.

Yes but there is a lot more good fat in it than bad fat.

It does contain cholesterol but dietary cholesterol tends to raise the good cholesterol, saturated fat is waht raises the bad cholesterol.

High cholesterol is hereditary so its only something you should consider if it runs in the family, otherwise eat up but keep saturated fat intake low.

I always eat the whole egg :)

The whites have the majority of the protein with no fat. The yolks have some protein, but not as much as the whites - but the yolks have all the fat and all the cholesterol.

That's why I only use 1 yolk and 3 whites in an omelette.

Eat the yolk, it won't kill you.

Egg whites by themselves taste horrible.

The yolk is the most nutritous part of the egg. Try a search this has been beaten like an egg white omelete.
