View Full Version : Hand and thumb pain

Basically it seems whenver I bench or squat I feel pain in my thumbs from gripping the bar. Since I have to stretch my hands to get a good position it hurts. Is there any advice for this? Improper hand placement? supps? what?

How are you gripping the bar? I don't see anyone ever having problems with gripping the bar unless they are doing it wrong lol

I just grip it. Not really much to say. I am not sure whats causing the pain.

I use a thumb under grip in order to line up all the tendons. Some people don't like the grip and say the bar will roll out of your grip. I have not had that problem.

I have also seen people put sponges on the bar to build it up so the tendons are not clamping down as hard and the bar is not crushing them.

You using gloves? They add grip and comfort... give them a try if you're not already.
