Hey all, in the past ive normally overlooked Pre/Post workout nutrition but from now im going to focus on it more, but im pretty clueless so looking for some advice, foods, when to take etc.

From reading the forums, i think i am right here.

Pre: 1 hour before

Post: Shake straight after, then whole food 30-45mins later?

As for foods...

Pre: Complex carb and lean protein? Such as chicken and WW bread. I have also seen peanut butter eaten, but i eat that at night. I also take NO Xplode

Post: 1 scoop whey with water after, then same as pre? Like chicken and fiborous veggies?

I've been told eating peanut butter before a workout will minimize fat burned. If you're cutting, then I recommend no PB before workout. *This was told to me, not saying it is 100% true*

Why not throw some dextrose into that PWO protein shake? I usually buy OJ gatorade powder and throw 2 scoops of it into my vanilla whey protein. It tastes like an orange creamsickle and is d-lecious! This should help get your insulin levels back up after the workout.

You don't want fiber after a workout.

i'd move the pre back to about 2 hours before. see here (http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=272067) for macro nutritent ratios. post looks fine but if you have whey there's really no need for chicken. veggies post sounds fine.

I merely use fruit and whey. Plus I add in 1/2 cup of oats. Good stuff.

Here is what I did today, I thought it worked great. I felt amazing right before and during my entire HIIT session, if it weren't for time constraints I could have kept going for a while easily.

Woke up around 6:40 A.M.

Around 7:05 ate 1 package of instant regular flavored oats w/ ~7 blueberries, followed by 6 egg whites w/ ground pepper and little of Frank's Red Hot Sauce for flavor.

Around 7:35 consumed Metabolol II energy/protein shake (has BCAAs too).

8:20 began HIIT workout lasting 30 mins on treadmill, running at 6.0-6.5 mph as resting rate and pushing the sprint speed up to 10 mph for 20 seconds every 2 minutes.

Came back and ate the exact same thing as before I left, except without the blueberries this time. I think it worked very well, I felt great and everything I ate was very nutritious.
