View Full Version : Muscle loss from several days of low calories and protein?

I’m coming off a week long bout with the flu. My appetite is slowly coming back, but for the first few days of being sick I had ZERO appetite and was barely able to force down a few hundred calories/day...mostly fruit, no protein...also haven’t lifted in 6 days...

Curious how several days of no lifting + no protein affected my lean mass? Is it too short a time frame to have made much impact?

You'll get it all back within 2 weeks if you eat well and train hard.

You will be fine. I doubt you’d have any muscle loss.

You may lose a tiny bit of strength, or mainly stamina because of the flu virus, but you will get it back in a couple of weeks.

The only other thing I’ll add is that you should ease into it. Don’t do too much at once. You may no longer be symptomatic, but the flu may not have left your body. You don’t want to go all out, then get down again.

I had flu. Felt fine after a week. Went back and went all in. Ended up having flu for 2 more weeks.

Thanks for the feedback, appreciated. After stepping on the scale it looks like I’ve lost about 8 lbs in just under a week. If only it were all fat haha :-/
