I don't consider it a real sport tbh...

I worked for a company that does E-Sports before, after I left the company, I started to apply for new job, and then the HR said to me "What the heck is E-Sport?" because of that it leaves a awkward impression to them...

For real, it is a new growing trend that popularize the video game industry, but real sports fans or people in general they are confused about what it is.

I'm not a huge fan, but I watch them from time to time. If I remember correctly, the League of Legends championship had close to 500,000 viewers at one time during the finals which is pretty crazy. I think the Rams game that was broadcast on Twitch a couple of months a go got 30,000.

I think the ability to chat and react with others while the games are happening are huge draw-card to kids watching them. If the NFL, NBA etc did something similar and were able to monetize it, I reckon there would be huge opportunities to expand those brands.
