View Full Version : How many meals to maximize MPS?

I'm currently eating 3 meals a day, around 170g of protein. I remember someone said on this forum that 4 meals with at least 2.5-3g of leucine (something like 25-30g of complete protein) are better for muscle protein synthesis. I have a busy job, and I can only eat 3 times a day. I don't want to spend money of protein powder, but I can if it's necessary, since it's the only good source of protein on the go. Can someone told me if my approach is ok?

You don't need to change your eating schedule.

That's fine. Unless you're very lean and very muscular it doesn't matter as much as some people think. As long as you get your protein quota in on a daily basis you'll be ok. Spreading out the P is never a bad idea however it generally isn't a make or break situation most of the time.

Going from 3 to 4 meals will be a very small difference.

Your training, total diet and sleep quality are far more important.

Once you're having a hard time gaining muscle consider improving MPS.

x2 on the sleep quality hugest difference for me.
