We use the Gregorian calendar OP. It was introduced by the Pope in the 1500's so it didn't start 2000 years ago.

The calendar we used before that was the Julian calendar which was started by Julius Caesar in 40-50 BC time period. I don't know the specifics of his calendar but he replaced the Roman calendar with that and we used it until the 1500's. It goes to show Rome's influence.

I learned this in Catholic school growing up. Lol.

Reading your post caused me to do some research. It hard to believe just how accurate they measured the year in ancient times: 365.24219858156 days

Yeah it's insane. The Gregorian calendar was to even make it more accurate for leap years. It's crazy how people figured things out so well before any real advent of technology to assist.
