I would describe this guy as a more classic liberal / democrat.

He is articulate, succinct, and his vernacular is something to be desired.

I think it is a worth a listen.

when the left meets the far left and is astounded by their own rhetoric but amplified

He is definitely more of a classic democrat circa 1990, not a classical liberal.

regardless the end result of his views is exactly what happened to him. And of course he doesn't see it that way.

This.

His little hell-spawn turned on him and now he wants to cry about it?

I agree though he seems to not have been as bad as most professors. But idk.

Still as the lines shift I expect we will see more people like this end up on our “side” of things.

These chit eating liberals need to stop. He's speaking the truth. The left has become extremely authoritarian about free speech. They are destroying America.

Bret's chickens came home to roost.
Somehow wienstien enabled and contributed to the problem but then when it bit him, he managed to profit from it.

This was his response to that statement on the left eating itself.

Here is the full video - the two in the middle are insane. So, if you like communism and think it is okay - feel free to listen to your echo chamber. I would suggest you skip past their talking points they are literally communists and really do not make sense. They claim to be 1st amendment absolutists and they're actually authoritarian d-bags.

Lol he agrees that the left is eating itself and then he continues saying that his leftism isn't part of the problem.

He says that at a certain point the left and the extreme left will diverge, and he gives the point where we reach equality of opportunity as an example and he says that we are nowhere near that point yet.

He doesn't realize that the steps needed to reach his version of equality of opportunity are exactly what lead to the extreme left.

I don't know if I agree that he believes the left is the problem - because he doesn't define letftism the same way you, Otis, might. I have always argued this same point in this forum - semantics matter - much like how feminists claim they want "equality" they really want "superiority." He is pointing out Leftists who are so unhinged in regard to comprehension that they do not understand what actions they take do not match up to what they say.

This is why ANTIFA is a terrorist organization yet their own members believe they are literal victims. Their actions make them terrorists; their grievances claim they are without representation. The UK guy on the left of the stage is fairly clear about this liberal policy being - if you censor - you give them validity. ANTIFA wanders around censoring as much as they can because it offends them. Bret in this has made it very clear that a safe space (which he states in the congressional) video and "free speech" can be inclusive - which isn't wrong - a safe space to discuss "risky topics." This is why we have things like tenure; to give professors the ability to discuss things like communism, fascism, anarcho-capitalism, as ideas in the market place without having people like Bret scape-goated as stone to be stepped on to elevate oneself (which is exactly what the two in the middle are examples of and have done to others). A safe space to the ANTIFA group is antithetical to the concept of free speech. I find it more amusing the UK guy was stating this is not a "left" concept but more a mutation/abomination of ill-informed and dangerous mobs which he declares as "reaction." I disagree that isn't "left" as it is - it is just the fringe becoming the limelight.

I think that is why Bret says the Left is eating itself. Bret appears that he views the mob at his school were leftists - and he is telling the socialists in that forum - you will suffer the same consequences that I likely have (being eaten) if you do not bring light to the more sinister nature of the extreme left (those in the middle of the stage who would gladly feast on your flesh) and not push back on them. I doubt Bret agrees with the hard left. He does make it apparent, you can't go far right either, you need to more centrist - freedom of speech is what contains these mob-mentality ANTIFA members. Economically what he was stating if anything - he just said don't go up the pole to Authoritarian and don't go down the pole to Libertarian as divestment of capital and exclusion of capital are both bad policies.
