I started at 175 two weeks ago. I gained 0.8 lbs the first week and 1.5 lbs the second week. I know the second week gain is too high. Should I reduce my calories or wait a little longer?

Stay with it, keep a running average of weight since it can fluctuate due to many factors.

If you're 48 and not that lean to begin with you want to be careful while bulking. Your calories may be too high. Gaining more than a pound per month won't work very well unless you're completely new to lifting.

Actually I'm 42 not sure why I can't change my age.

Might be just a water weight increase, if weight will grow even after fourth week at the same rate, reduce calories

Ok. Well point stays pretty much the same. Building muscle over 40 is a slow process. 1-2 pounds weight gain per month is all you need. Bulking too fast has a higher price than bulking too slow.
