Gonna go to the bar before a football game and take a knee during the national anthem. I think it's good solidarity.

What do you think misc?

I mean if I saw you I wouldn't really care too much and wouldn't be offended but, if you're surrounded by a bunch of rednecks I would watch out. also do you support the movement the players are protesting because if so then I respect it, if not I don't see the point other than trying to get ppl's jimmies rustled

Not sure what the whole point of the whole take the knee thing is. If you're at the bar doing that youll probably just look like a jack ass. If you were at the game itd make sense. Also what is everyone even doing this over?

I want to understand and out of everyone in the US I think that you can help. What does it all mean? How does it relate to our national anthem? Nobody can explain how this is related or what it really means. basically when the people are taking knee it's more of a movement against police brutality instead of the anthem. the players are protesting against black people being victims of police brutality ( due to current events and the media). these people however are doing this protest in one of the most peaceful ways possible and one of the most effective ways. everyone is seeing the message and there is no violence caused by it but, it is a big statement because they are saying "something is wrong with America right now and although our country has values of equality they are not being upheld

How would the average American associate kneeling for the national anthem with police violence without any context? There is no followup and nothing that proceeds this. I dont think you understand what this was really about. I think it was a message to the president but unsure as well.

well it all started with ****n kapernick and he made it public knowledge that he was taking a knee during the national anthem to protest the police brutality. people have been following suit ever since that moment. people around the country are bringing it up, kids in high school games are doing it, peewee games and all around the country it was happening before Trump said something. the reason why it got so big this week is because trump made news that people should be fired for kneeling for the flag. this caused an uproar in the football community causing for players that were once undecided about their decision to kneel to create a single unity as a team to kneel during the anthem. Trump gave the players that were standing up a reason to kneel, he was just the catalyst

Thanks but I dont think it has anything to do with the military. The flag and national anthem represent every citizen. Especially the ones that cannot/won't serve.

How does the national anthem correlate to the police brutality and how do I understand the injustice that faced, merely by some millionaire taking a knee while I am still getting my ass kicked by the police?

Ok so what does it actually mean? How does the national anthem correlate to the police brutality and how do I understand the injustice that faced, merely by some millionaire taking a knee while I am still getting my ass kicked by the police? basically it has nothing to do against the national anthem itself but kaepernick found a non violent way to bring attention to an issue that he believes needs to be addressed and now people are following suit. most of these players aren't doing anything to help end the issue other than take a knee and they believe that this should be enough to cause for a public outcry which would lead to policy change.

Yep
This is how movements have occurred throughout our history (i.e. Rosa parks took a stand on a bus, and it had nothing to do with the actual bus itself).

Movements are never comfortable. Often times protests are not accepted by the masses. The protestors know that when they are going in. This is nothing new

The real issue is people don't care to understand what protestors have to say. All they know is that the protestors actions offend them. That's the most basic way to out it.

wtf are you talking about? She refused to give up her seat to protest giving up her seat. These clowns are disrespecting the flag/anthem to protest something totally unrelated (police brutality against blacks, the President's opinion, or whatever). The former took direct action, the latter is using disjointed virtue signaling.

http://www.history.com/topics/black-history/montgomery-bus-boycott

In 1955, African Americans were still required by a Montgomery, Alabama, city ordinance to sit in the back half of city buses and to yield their seats to white riders if the front half of the bus, reserved for whites, was full. On December 1, 1955, African-American seamstress Rosa Parks (1913-2005) was returning home from her job at a local department store on the Cleveland Avenue bus. She was seated in the front row of the “colored section.” When the white seats filled, the driver, J. Fred Blake (1912-2002), asked Parks and three others to vacate their seats. The other African-American riders complied, but Parks refused. She was arrested and fined $10, plus $4 in court fees. This was not Parks’ first encounter with Blake. In 1943, she had paid her fare at the front of a bus he was driving, then exited so she could re-enter through the back door, as required. Blake pulled away before she could re-board the bus.

They kneel cause they think the values of the flag aren't being accomplished in the black community. Make no mistake a lot of these people hate America. I've talked to plenty that say our constitution doesn't represent them since it was written by racists. Some even hate the anthem for a left out poem or something. I personally think their stuck in a victim mentality that leads to them creating their own system which imprisons them.
