Indy was never going to acquire KLove for PG in a one for one. This kinda just shows how low teams feel about KLove (with his knee injuries etc) considering that a 3rd team wasnt willing to give up assets > Oladipo + Sabonis for KLove

Oladipo's contract was $21m a year until like 2020. Regardless of PG staying or going in 2018, it was still a good move by the Thunder to be rid of that contract.

Why not? Love is still a bonafide star and would have been back to 25 & 12 as a first option there. Plus he would have been under contract for 2 more seasons. Perfect guy to pair with Turner up front.

Instead they get overrated Oladipo with his awful contract and Sabonis who MIGHT be a serviceable player in the long run.

Just an awful deal for Indy all around. They got greedy and paid the price.

so indy basically made this trade because their owner is a cheap fukk that doesn't want to rebuild and wants an IU guy there despite his terrible contract, OKC clears up cap space for a guy who will leave in a year, russ and PG get to play together for a year before inevitably losing in the 2nd round, boston will continue to lose to the cavs who will continue to lose to the warriors who are losing iggy and livingston

...the lakers are the only real winners here

yeah just saw that. livingston is an idiot. he's already won 2, he's 32 and a bench player, should have taken the money. some dumbass team would have given him 35M.

iggy is definitely gone tho. reports are he has no meeting with GS lined up and plenty of teams will offer him big money. he's already won 2 rings now and this will be his last big deal, he's gonna cash in

You can think of Larry Bird whatever you want, but I doubt he would have made such a retarded trade for the Pacers. They started dangling PG far too late with unrealistic hopes of an extension, then they fuk up negotiations with franchises who offered them far better packages than OKC.

Losers:
- Pacers (took one of the worst trade packages for their only major asset)
- OKC (sent away two guys for their inevitable rebuild to get a 1-year-rental for 2nd round playoffs)
- Cavs/Celtics/Houston and any other franchise that hoped to land him

Winner:
- Lakers

See ya in Staples Center 2018, Paul.

He'll be a 32 year old player with injury issues that averaged 5 ppg.

Just cause he's a niche roleplayer on the Warriors doesn't mean he's demanding a high contract somewhere else.
