hello all,
I just started cutting a few days ago and I'm not sure if my macros are right... I weigh 185lbs, 15% bf, 6 feet tall. I work out 3-4 days per week depending on how much time I have. Currently doing 2500 cals 40c, 30p, 30f. this puts me at 271 carbs, 188 protein, and 83 fat. the main issue I'm having is getting down that much protein every day, even with eating chicken/fish/steak for 2 of my meals and drinking 2 shakes a day (1.5 scoop of whey)... when I say I'm having trouble I mean I can physically get it down but it's pretty hard on my stomach. Are these macros right and do I really need to be eating this much protein???

You could drop it to .8g/lb(~150g) and keep your fats at least .4g/lb. Those are the minimums to hit and then you can fill the rest of your calories as you want with c/f/p.

if I do drop protein to .8g, will that result in more muscle loss than if I kept it around 1g?

also side note, I'm wondering if 2500 is way too much to be cutting on....

If you're really 15% bodyfat at 6 feet and 185, then no... 2500 is perfectly normal, or in fact could be kind of low by many people's standards (including mine)

I usually think I'm slightly above 15%, every test I do comes back around 15% but I know bodpod is going to be the closest measurement and I've never done one. Calipers and measurement body fat tests come back at 15%.

Stop using supplements you don't need so much protein, as someone mentioned above you need 140-150 gms. Are you doing any sort of cardio? Walking a lot? If weight is not dropping after 2nd week, decrease intake/increase cardio.

also side note, I'm wondering if 2500 is way too much to be cutting on....If you do any kind of activity then no, 2500 sounds fine and may even be a bit low.

Mikeez0, my metabolism is pretty fast so I'll probably get away with the first two weeks of the cut cardio free. the only supplements I'm currently using are whey protein (usually post workout and sometimes one right before bed) and I just added bcaa's during the cut.

BCAAs are useless pretty much.
on Fridays when I work longer hours I simply don't have enough time to consume all my cals, so i use bcaa supp to make up for lack of real nutrients.
