View Full Version : White rice pre and post workout

I had a question regarding the amount of white rice you would typically eat pre workout and post workout. I was reading somewhere that you should eat a cup rice (measured after cooked) but that seems like an awful lot. I used bodybuilding.com's carb intake calculator and it put me around 300grams a day. I'm not even sure how I'm supposed to hit that number. Any thoughts or suggestions?

You like white rice? Eat it

You dont like it? Then dont

But make it your choice and not because some silly read says you should eat it

The amount you eat, if you choose to, is up to you

havent had rice in past 4 months, im doing just fine. whats so essential about rice. its poor in micros.

Thoughts? Eat jasmine rice. Anything other than that isn't worth being mentioned.

Oh yeah, dont go by cookie cutter calculators.

I'm doing about 500g - 600g of brown rice (cooked) per day at the minute...

Sometimes I'll eat a little before workout... had about a 100g this morning, other times I'll do it in a couple of sittings throughout the day with meats and vegs...

Easiest source of carbs for me in all ways... price, prep and location (Asia)...

Not sure what your reasons are for doing white rice... worth a look at red and brown rice if you're looking for other options... few additional benefits to be had...

196 pounds... no you do not need 300 gram carbs per day.

You could probably benefit from a calorie deficit.

And there's no need for pre or post workout carbs.
