View Full Version : Is current version of Kobe an actual NBA level player? (srs)

Chucking 17 shots a game at 33% and 7 3's a game at 20%. Providing zero defense and on a team full of young guys trying to develop.

If his name wasn't Kobe Bryant would he be getting a game for any team in the league?

Kobes an all time great let me say that. But his only NBA level skill left is free throw shooting.

He's actually a really good passer and showing that more now that he can't shoot anymore.

But holy fuk Kobe please stop shooting 3s already. At what point does anybody say 'you fuking suck, no more 3s'

4 rebounds for a small forward is probably average or just below average. He is a good passer when he wants to be but doesnt do it enough.

So we've ascertained he cant shoot from anywhere, is too slow to beat guys off the dribble, terrible defender, average to below average rebounder, good passer, good free throw shooter. Is that an NBA level player?

Who knows. He's not an average rebounder, he's playing with 8 ft tall Hibbert and Randle getting all the boards, on any other team he'd be averaging more boards a game, good passer, well above average ft shooter and he's not a terrible defender, pretty decent given the team he plays on but his shooting brings him down so much from a good player to a bad one.

Just wish he'd stop with the 3s already. He's at 43% shooting from 2 pt range, that's decent but over 40% of his shots are 3 pters and he's not hitting anything from there.

Gonna give him the benefit of the doubt and wait until midseason

But right now it's not really lookin' like it.

Inb4 he wakes up only for this one game and puts up like 60 pts

If he'd stop shooting 3's he'd be at about 44%.

For some reason he's forcing 3 balls I don't know whether it's him stubbornly trying to find his stroke again or what.

What Kobe should be doing at this stage of is career is playing off the bench and coming in for around 15 minutes to knock down some Js and maintain the morale of the team, but instead he's chucking up millions of 3s per game and making himself look like an absolute fool.

Carrried by Shaq and Phil Jackson for 3 of those. I'd hope so.

Bingo. Unfortunately Kobe is as delusional as his fans. Guy thinks he's still a #1 option in this league when he's clearly a bench player now.

Lulz. I guess they should sign Kareem and Jerry West since they have more bball experience than anyone on the Lakers roster.

He will pull a Mike Schmidt (back in like 1989 or so) and realize he's embarrassing his legacy and call a press conference and just retire. Back then I thought Schmidt was being a p@$$y and just bailing out, then over the years I started to really appreciate him doing the right thing, manning up, and leaving when he knew it was time. Kobe should do the same.

Can't blame Kobe tbh. It's Buss/ Kupchak's fault.

Kobe isn't going to stop chucking until he's on a team with a superstar he respects and can yield to.
The idea of developing rookies with Kobe on the team was never going to work.

I'm amazed this doesn't seem to come up, but the whole things seems intentional to me. It's the best way I've seen to tank a season and get a high draft pick. His salary has the team 100% hamstrung, so let him accumulate career stats and remain a draw for LA while you also get the bonus of a probably top 3 draft pick.

The alternative is that he holds back, plays off the bench, and then what do you get.... a team that isn't fun to watch, people in LA are less interested in, and one that doesn't crack the western playoffs anyway.

Seriously, it's in the team's best interest to put him out there for as many minutes as possible.

Tonight Kobe looked like some random tall black dude they plucked from the stands and chucked a Lakers jersey on him. Absolutely brutal.
