He broke someone's leg because he slid well past and off the bag. He never even touch the bag and had no intention to do so. I know he didn't want to injure the guy but still unnecessary

I'd like to see Holliday retroactively suspended for this as well.

BRB Harsh result = doing something unprecedented.

Tejada did absolutely nothing to protect himself and that unnecessary spin move made getting hurt much more likely. It sucks that he got hurt, but that's legal. It's also a slide that Utley has taken many times over his career.

Tejada was 2 feet past the bag, Utley went in with his knee and his elbow at Tejads waist.

Like I said, it's unfortunate that tejada got hurt, but it's a legal slide within the current rules.

Rule 5.09
The
objective of this rule is to penalize the offensive team for deliberate,
unwarranted, unsportsmanlike action by the runner in
leaving the baseline for the obvious purpose of crashing the
pivot man on a double play, rather than trying to reach the base.
Obviously this is an umpire’s judgment play.

Nope not illegal at all

Ive been saying it all day. There IS a rule for this. WTF at a rules change.

What exactly does suspending Chase have to do with the ump's inability to call him out due to that rule?

I think this is more of a message saying that they will be enforcing this more after what happened to Kang as well

What if he appeals

Then he gets a 100 mph fastball to his dome in his first at bat and becomes a vegetable.

The rule of the shop is if you're close enough to touch the bag, it's legal. LoL - Umps + MLB hq in NY ok'd this play and even gave Utley second base after watching in slo-mo over and over and now its "illegal" - what a joke, they just don't want a beanball war. Not sure why as that would be the highest tv ratings boring baseball would have gotten in years.

Not likely.

Chase will remind the cucky Mets fans why right field is named Utley's Corner.

We have to hope Chase wins his appeal even if you don't like the slide.

this sets a bad precedent for the future.
