This is my first proper cut and I just want to make sure I'm getting my macro's and calories right to maintain the muscle mass that I have.

I'm aiming for 1700 Calories a day and a 40/40/20 (Carbs/Protein/Fat) ratio.

I'm currently 168lbs and I want to cut down to about 155. I do a 40-50 min weights session 3/4 times a week and cardio 3 times which usually involves a 30 minute run or something similar.

I just wanted to make sure I'm not going to low or doing anything drastically wrong.

Thanks in advance for your responses!

It sounds like 1700 calories is way too low. I cut down to 8% bf with similar stats as you and never had to go under 2,000. What is your TDEE?

Also ratios are outdated. The best way to do it is to eat .8-1g protein per pound of bodyweight, .4-.5g fat per pound of bodyweight, and fill the rest in with carbs or additional protein and fat if you prefer.

Thanks for the info, my TDEE is about ~2500 cals.

Ah I see i've been using ratio's, i'll set my macro's for what you suggest, thanks for your help. Would you advise I up it to about 2000 cals a day instead of 1700 then?

10-20% below TDEE is usually recommended.

Alright thanks so between 250-500 calories. I'll go for 2200 and see how I feel, maybe drop it down to the lower level of 2000. I've given rep to you both, thanks for your help!
