Is beef jerky good as a protein source snack? It looks good, albeit the preservatives, but it's expensive. If it is good, anyone know a good place to buy it? Or what are other good protein snacks other than the obvious. Thanks

Beef jerky rocks for bulking. Its pretty much pure protein, with less water in it so you get a higher protein/lb ratio. Dont think about buying it for a bulking diet though; do yourself a favor and buy a dehydrator and 5lbs of round steak. Also do it in moderation because its packed with sodium.

You can "dry" just about any meat on your grill if you have warmer racks, or even in an everyday oven. I have made venison jerky and it is easy. You just cut strips of meat, marinade, and "cook" it at a low heat for couple of hours. I haven't done it in a while, but when I hit my bulking phase later this year, I'll probably start doing it again. There are lots of recipes on the net for it.
