I've been watching alot of allstar games, and highlights of old players and find it hilarious that they get so much "respect" because of their stats.

The players from the 70's lacked such athleticism, its hilarious too watch. Their handles were so poor aswell, they dribble the ball infront of then, so a player like michael jordan would have stolen the ball everytime.

The 80's was better in terms of skills like passing, shooting, handles (magic, bird, Isiah) Some of the taller players had explosive jumping abilities like dominique etc but the league had quite a few tall centres and powerforwars, and all the tallest were stacked on the superteams.

But none of the players had pure athleticism.... not until Michael Jordan entered the league, You could see he had control over the muscle fibres in his body, where he could just exposively go from 0 to 100, beat the defender, palm the ball and jump in the air, the defenders challenging him, but as he was falling down he would use his muscle fibres to extend himself in the air always getting that extra Hang-Time . Leaping higher than all the competitors, after a while you wouldnt see anyone challenge him when he got up in the air especially at all star games ....... obviously bad boy pistons and celtics would rough him up in real games coz they couldnt beat him in athleticism.

We see players like this in our game all the time now, Russell westbrook is just like a young jordan in terms of pure athleticism. Vince carter back in his prime aswell, they make the game exciting.

Cliffs:

Old times like oscar robertson, wilt, russel, jerry west etc's athleticism was really poor.

also they didnt have the handles or passing of the players in the 80s and 90s. tbh i dont eve think their shooting was as good as 80s and 90s players

yes cuz a slight difference in shoe makes that much of a difference. jordan would rock the league in the 60s and 70s in bare feet
