Say I eat a nice meal 2 hours before a 1 hour weight lifting routine. I am talking rice + beans + meat + fruits. When I get out of the gym, if I am not hungry should i really be downing a protein shake or do you guys think if my body is still somewhat full from the food, it should have enough to replenish itself ?

No need for a post shake at all unless you want one.

If you're not hungry when you get out of the gym then don't eat until you're hungry

listen to your body and not what you think you're supposed to do (aka pwo shake etc)
