Hey guys, I am 4' 9, 19, and 102 lbs, around 24 % body fat. Using the katch McArdle equation, I get a BMR of 1147 which means that with my activity level multiplier of 1.6, I get a maintenance of 1800. I am chubby and definitely do not want to bulk due to to fact that I am 24 %. Many people will probably think that I have body dismorphia and that I am delusional cutting but I truly have fat that I need to lose as I am 24 % body fat. Keep in mind that I am little. I don't think that 102 is that underweight for my frame although I know I need to build muscle. I would like to cut first because I feel that bulking while having all this fat will make me lose all motivation as I have before. My question is, is a 1400-1500 calories per day cut detrimental physically? I have been on 1300 before and I was able gain strength. I have cab squat and deadlift 135 for 3 sets of 6, bench 75 for 3 sets of 6. Thanks !

If your maintenance is 1800, cutting at 1500 is ok.

Make sure to get your protein/fat minimums

Cut about 10 to 20% from your maintenance, 1500 is good, it is between 10 and 20%

I come from around 24% bf too (around 20% now), keep focussed, keep fighting towards your goal and before you notice it you'll see the fat melting away ;-)

Good luck bro!

Yep to this. Keep to 1500 or whichever calorie goal you choose, hit protein and fat macro minimums for a good 2-3 weeks. See how your weight is changing and adjust if needed. Good luck!

At 4'9", 102 isn't actually underweight at all and cutting can be beneficial with your situation, so don't worry about that!

I'd aim for somewhere in the 1500-1600 range to start and follow the tips in the post above.
