View Full Version : increase calories after yard work?

I'm on a bulk eating 3400 calories a day. My physical activity usually consists of going to the gym 3 times a week. I've been gaining a lb. a week so far.

Today, I shoveled dirt for about 2-3 hours. I tried to stay at a slow pace and not work up a huge sweat or anything but it was still a lot of work. Should I eat more calories to make up for it? If so, how much? I'm a "hard gainer" so I don't want to set myself back any.

dont worry about it, keep living on. you wont build 1 lb muscle per week anyway.

Increase calories only if weight gain stalls over the course of a couple of weeks.

Unless you are light headed or something like that, IMO you don't need to increase calories for one day of acute exercise. Now, if you got a job shoveling dirt and your average caloric expenditure went up because of that, then that would be different and you would probably need to adjust upward your overall caloric intake.
