JISSN shows that consuming 4.4g/kg (2.2g/lb) does not lead to increases in fat mass or muscle mass over 8 weeks time while continuing a resistance training program in men and women in their 20's with 9 years training experience.

The high protein group did gain muscle on average, 1.9 kg  2.4 to be exact.
