Brb rookie year and flipping off opponent bench in preseason when he can't even win the starting job. This guy will definitely be out of the league in 3 years

Meanwhile Connor Shaw is looking like a steal as an undrafted rookie. Imagine what could have been if Cleveland used their Manziel pick to address the Gordon situation instead. Jordan Matthews and Kelvin Benjamin were both available. I hope Manziel can eventually make it as a productive starter. If not, it's Brandon Weeden, Brady Quinn, Tim Couch, etc. all over again....

You know that the browns traded back and originally had 4? For a first and forth rounder next year and their 9th pick. Then used a 5th round pick to move up to 8

The problem with Manziel is that the minute the Browns start losing, especially if it's because of the offense, then the fans will be screaming for Manziel. Then it will be 24/7 coverage on ESPN of, "When is Manziel going to be given a shot?"

browns fans are some of the best sports fans in the world. extremely loyal to a team that was ripped from them and hasn't been good since before most can remember. but one of their flaws (which can be said about many fan bases ) is that they always want the next guy up. this is partly because all of our QBs have sucked, but the guy who gets the start will always have that in the back of his head that the fans want the #2 guy in. it would be the same way if manziel started and was struggling. they have a very short leash. its been this way for several years but it hurts them to have 2 QBs of about equal talent on the roster at the same time. if they had a guy that was decent and no serviceable backup they would be able to play without having to feel the pressure of being replaced.. not by the coaching staff but by the fans chanting for the other guy.

It really is depressing. Cleavleand fleeced Indy with the Trent Richardson trade. It finnaly look like they were going to start redeeming past mistakes and turn around the franchise. Then they go waste that pick on Johnny Manziel, and continue to show why they are a bottom feeder franchise.

This. Wish Shaw was getting more attention and some time with the first team. I'm really pulling for Hoyer as I really don't think Manziel is an NFL QB. Hope he proves me wrong but have a feeling that he won't.

because Justin Gilbert was a botched pick?Odds are yes given the Browns history. Add in the rate that defenses are being flagged for whatever the hell they are getting called for right now, why spend a high pick on a DB?

On the positive side the Cleavleand run defense looked really good. They had some great kick returns too. I would agree in that cornerbacks take awhile to develop. There is a reason they are the top paid position on defense. It's not an easy position to play.

the team is not bad they are just very weak at QB and receivers, their RBs I don't think are bad but when you pair them up with a horrible pass offense it's hard to do much

whether he is better that Hoyer or not, I hope they give him more time to learn the game, he can be good but he will make a lot of dumb mistakes that will take away from his play making ability. He does have a winner's attitude though
