View Full Version : Ideas on food that's filling, good for me, and not too expensive?

I don't like fish, most meats (although I've been getting somewhat better) and I hate nuts. I know fish, white meat, and nuts are supposed to be good for you, but I can't eat any (well, most of it). Chicken is okay for the most part, and so is pork.

I have about $10 to last me to pay day, and I need some ideas on what I can buy to take to work with me for lunch, that's healthy and filling. Lately, all I've been taking is a salad or rice cakes/peanut butter. I bring a lot of water too, and usually some fruit unless I'm next-to-broke, like this week.

Any ideas on what I can buy or make?

#1 potatoes
Very filling, very cheap, nitritious
#2 Oats

I recommend oatmeal. Quick oats are better for having them expand in a bowl with a lot of water as they heat up in the microwave. It's filling, cheap, and easy to customize to fit into your macros.

Good to the supermarket and look at what's on special. If you can get access to a big box retailer, try buying in bulk.
