you don't even have to register or anything, but you can go to classmates.com and you can look at most high school yearbooks...

they have most as far back as the late 60's..

it was pretty depressing actually...

just thought I'd share that !

Yup. Chaos took a picture of a bald eagle before I shot and ate it.I went out about a week or so ago to check out the nest. It wasn't until I went around to the back of the nest when I saw the eaglets sunbathing.

hehe, yeah, I started photography in the 80's. I was really into B+W and did all my own lab work including printing. Used everything from a Roloflex, Leica, Hasselblad, and even large format 4x5. Right now I use a D90 w/ 24-70 f2.8 (http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/24-70mm.htm) which suits my needs.

The digital revolution sure changed the craft a lot. Back then you had to pretty much nail the exposure and then maybe you could gain a stop or two in processing but that's it. Good times. :)

Get an entry level camera and a good lense or two. The camera is not the deciding factor in photography.

Take whatever camera you get, flip the selector to M, and learn to take pictures.

What's a good camera to start with?

Say around a grand for the budget.A grand will get you a damn fine camera with any of the major brands really. Be warned though, that the glass is were the real cost is. Then... there is always used.

It depends on what you want to do. I am selling my T3 with a 18-55 kit lens for $250. It's Canons oldest entry level dslr.

That one was back in November. Sadly, the camera that was taken with seems not to be doing well. Looking for a new one to takes its place. It is about 11 years old. I only use it to take moon pics.

Here is a poor attempt at an "action" shot. I am really trying to get better at these. It was such a dreary day, but we also saw some dolphins from the shore. That part was cool.

Curious... were you just using the kit lens? Just because it is weird that you have vignetting on the top corners when the lens isn't exactly super wide? No biggie, just something to think about next time to crop that out. I'm personally not against vignetting, but that looks definitely like something was in the way and not just an artistic choice to add afterwards.

Reread Opies OG post.

Current linup:
Canon 5d2
Canon 35 f/1.4L
Canon 24-105 f/4L
Canon 70-200 f/4L non IS
Canon 300 f4/L

I used to shoot a ton of primes and faster glass. nowadays, I see not much need for fast zooms. I got rid of a couple 50s and 85s in the past and look to repurchase another 85, but this time I'll probably just go back to the 1.4 instead of the 1.2.

Also need another UWA but waiting to see the reviews of the new offerings. I go through glass like water. I buy and sell them like crazy. I regret some purchases and some sales, but it's all a part of the hobby for me. :)
