Been sporting the handle bar solo mustache for the last 30 years...basically as long as I have been able to grow one. They were so cool back then. Now thinking not so much...I'm just so un-hip! Am ready to jump the shark and shave it off unless you ladies stop me. I'll do it...don't tempt me...I will...:D

Gonna piggyback off this thread, OP. I officially dyed my beard for the first time yesterday. Ladies, this pretty much makes me a switch-hitter, right? :D

Any time I see a caucasian man with a mustache, I automatically assume that they are homosexual.
I am dead serious.

ouch! 'I fooled em Jerry'...

These days a man with a full stache and only a stache reminds me of a 70's porn star!!

Time to get hip Fishman!

I prefer clean shaven or a little bit of scruff on my husband.

It is about the overall length of Sam Elliot's but groomed much, much closer. Love the Guts Glory Ram commercial by Sam...yes I drive a Ram!

no clue what a stinger is. I'll guess and say it is a separate spot like on the chin or below the lip?

We understand that you had role models growing up.

I've always liked moustaches, beards and stubble.

If you need the change OP, just go for it :)

Not a cop but have always enjoyed pretending I'm one. It's funny how nervous people get when they ask you if you are a cop and you tell them yes just to have a little fun with them. A little role playing in the bedroom was always good times with Mrs. Fish :D

I'm like the guy driving around in the just auctioned off police interceptor with the lights removed...

There are many factors involved: the shape of your face, thickness of lips, width of upper lip. You have to do the best with what you have. It's like having a beard because you have a small or receding chin. Really long mustaches or beards can look dirty though (egg snegglies a-hiding); and too coiffed a look with facial hair (handle bar waxed twist ups or pencil thin mustaches) can suggest egoism, pride, or sensitivity.

I had a ordinary mustache when I met my now ex-wife. She said she liked clean shaven but I stuck with the mustache for a bit. Then I got into the habit of shaving it off once a year, in the fall, and then letting it come back. Every time I did the shave, my wife confessed that she preferred the mustache.

I also did the goatee (which in pics of the time looks a bit silly), the lamb chops (exact reverse of goatee), which ALL women detested, and the full beard (last year, to keep the sun off my face), which met with mixed reactions.

Now I've returned to the clean shaven or scruff with a regular mustache. of course, almost all my staffers are women, some my age, so I get regular and rigorous unsolicited feedback on my appearance, whether I want it or not, on my clothes, grooming, and even diet. I never reciprocate.

Fish, perhaps try just need a little less mustache like this

Shaving it off all at once can be traumatic. At least this way if you cry. "OMG what have I done!" It won't take so long to grow back.

UPDATE!!!!

I did something stupid....well...I was shaving and I noticed an asymmetry in my mustache...and I was trying to even it out...and the next thing I knew...gone! :D
