Motley Crue: They've done a couple but my thoughts on them is outside of Dr.Feelgood they bore me to death. The Crue exemplify all that is wrong with 80's music IMO.
Def Lep: They've also done one or two but really as much as I like their music I'm not motivated to spend time or money to see them live.
G'NR: They're doing their second coming up this fall, but for me whats left is a second rate cover band. Would pay good money to see the classic line up but not this group.
KISS: Recently announced they're doing a residency as the Hard Rock. Given they're doing the whole make up thing again you know they'll focus on the classic albums rather than the 80's garbage so the only thing really missing here is Ace IMO. I'm intrigued by this show and really like some of the really old songs like Strutter, Duece, Firehouse, Cold Gin and the like so I'm thinking it's about time I venture back down to that cesspool they call the strip and see a show! Big show on a relatively small stage, should be fun!!

And in the event DoSomething clicks on this thread, Brittany (or Brittney or however the f'ck she spells it) is doing a residency here also. No, I'm not going.

Yeah, don't care one way or the other. Just saying I would pay to see the originals but not the impostors.

Seeing the Crue at Summerfest in Milwaukee on July 4th, hopefully they don't suck too badly.

Would of liked to see them 30 years ago. Not now.

Def Lep: They've also done one or two but really as much as I like their music I'm not motivated to spend time or money to see them live.

Maybe when they had 10 hands.

Would probably pay to see the original lineup.

I have seen Kiss and I have seen a Kiss cover band. The only difference was about $100.

When a band or singer plays the same casino for a few weeks at a time, or in the case of Celine Dion until someone finally deports the bish!! The rock bands usually do between two and three weeks of shows five or six nights a week.

Saw them open for Ozzy, wasn't impressed with either to be honest.

Saw them on the Lick It Up tour and it was a great show! I've always said that the tribute bands are more likely to put on a good show simply because they likely love the music where the original band is probably sick to death of playing Rock and Roll All Night for billionth time! I think this may be worth it though given it's the full make up version of the show and in a relatively small venue.

pretty mind boggling that there was ever a market for kiss much less one 30 years later..

GNR might be interesting for about a half hour or so..

They were somewhat interesting and some of their early music was pretty good. Now they're a nostalgia act, nothing more, kinda like watching Mad Max again for the 100th time, you know what's going to happen but still enjoy it for some strange reason.

we've got Indian casinos out here in San Diego that bring in bands from the 70's and 80's...

it's pretty surprising how many bands from that era are still touring, doing the Indian gaming casino venues..

wake me up when ABBA comes to Pachanga :)

I saw Ozzy in 85 and I remember it being awesome. But that might of been cause I was 13 and pretty damn excited about being at an Ozzy show. Soon after I discovered Bad Religion and punk seemed to irritate adults more than metal did, so I started to listen to much more of that. I probably listen to more 80's metal now than I did in the 80's.

I saw them in the mid 90's and was bored after about 3 songs.

+ most of the cover bands I have seen do a good job replicating the songs you hear on the radio. But no matter how good the many Zeppelin tributes I have seen have sounded, I am sure it was nothing close to as good as hearing John Bonham or Jimmy Paige in person.

I agree with all of your comments. I saw Kiss a couple of times in the early 90's, and they brought the whole show. I imagine it would still be pretty good now.

I believe that is true. I saw the original lineup on the tour that they reunited.

Yeah, not interested if no Ace/Peter.

I heard Gene and Paul didn't even contact Peter when he got breast cancer a few years ago. Pretty weak.
