I see they're still showing crappy movies at banned camp.

Last time I was there they were playing Return of the killer tomatoes.

I'm still going to see it, based on a couple of past movie reviews I don't always agree with BH on this topic.

Well, I am taking my 5 year old tonight because we both love Godzilla. He can't wait and either can I.

I hope I at least like the technology they put into it

Do they dub in English over the Japanese? If not, it won't be authentic for me.

Disappointing to hear because I really like Brian Cranston as an actor. I'll probably still go see it at some point though

It's a banned camp, not a vacation! You're not supposed to be enjoying your time.

I haaaaaaaaaaaated the 1998 version. I was planning on getting this on from Redbox if anyone said it was good.

If you watch Godzilla backwards it becomes a movie about a giant lizard that rebuilds a city and then Moonwalks into the ocean.

That made me laugh.

I find the rotten tomatoes thermometer is usually a pretty good indicator for me. Right now, Godzilla is at 72% which is decent.

Personally, I would like to see this. Godzilla has continually rained wanton and gratuitous destruction upon hapless Japanese citizens for no reason whatsoever. It would be nice to see him pitch in a little bit and help clean up his mess. We all have to do our part, you know?

Hollyweird hasn't had an original idea in years so they rehash the classics, and many not-so classics, while of course inserting their progressive, environmentalist, America is evil drivel into them. The moral of the new Godzilla movie is we horrible humans deserved it.

F'ck you Hollyweird, I'll just pirate your garbage and regret wasting valuable bandwidth on it.

The problem is that like many of the old martial arts movies, Godzilla was great in part due to how unrealistic and corny the movies were. Hollywood trying to be serious with it misses the reasons many watched in the first place. IMO Cloverfield was good simply because they took the basic idea and stepped away from the constraints of being a Godzilla flick, they had the latitude to evolve the concept.

are you trying to tell us that Godzilla movies would be better if Godzilla wore a Groucho Marks mask and told really stupid jokes ?

Many years ago we had a theater in town The Roosevelt and on saturday mornings they always had showings of various Godzilla and other monster movies, good times were had and I don't care how cheesy they are but I still watch them when they come on tv. Just watched one a few weeks ago where Godzilla was overheating and in the end basically melted down like nuclear power plant, dumb as hell but still fun to watch.

Big monsters don't scare me as much as like wolf or bear-sized monsters. I can run faster than Godzilla and I can hide where he can't find me.

Werewolfs, vampires, ghosts will find you and f*k you up real quick like. You can stand there they gonna get you. You run they gonna get you. You can't hide from no ghosties. They gonna find you.

So, there.

I rarely listen to other people's opinions about whether to watch a movie or not :P

Divergent, Walking With Dinosaurs & The Nut Job received poor reviews and I enjoyed them. American Hustle & Inside Llewyn Davis received great reviews and I couldn't make it through them (especially Inside Llewyn Davis... what a snoozer!)

So long as you do not hide on a subway train with the rest of the helpless people. He will pick it up and look in on you. You may even scream, "My god" as he does it.

Not surprising, I havent gone to the movies in about 10 years. Every movie is on its 10th remake and I dont feel like watching distracting rapidly changing CGI scenes made for people with superhuman hyperactive disorders.

Went to go see it just because I'm a huge godzilla fan and even going in with low expectations I was still so disappointed. They trolled so many people who bought those "advanced" tickets. Everyone should've known what was up when they started doing that. Rumor is they're already working on a sequel.....God help us all

And by God, I meant short for Godzilla, save us from yourself!

Watch the original 1954 version, not the one with Raymond Burr, the original. This remake/reboot/whatever had good special effects, but that was about all. Not worth it. Not even worth buying the DVD. It just bit.

I felt it was a the best movie they could have made with the material. I did however feel that I was a little mislead by the credits. Kinda like that Executive Decision movie that was billed at Kurt Russel and Segal. Not that it really matters, its Godzilla.

ok I saw this about an hour ago, not ready to rate it just yet, but I think its better than past American Godzilla releases. by how much im not sure yet. I already like it better than the 85 and 98 versions, but its not up there with the original and more recent Japanese films.

my only complaint would be that Godzilla himself didn't get as much screen time as I would have preferred and some of the camera angles for the fights lacked the scope that the Japanese versions usually have. the script was a little cliché too, but its a Godzilla movie, so I wasant expecting a rosebud ending here. kind of missed the Godzilla theme music too.

the role of Godzilla himself seems consistent with the Japanese movies tho. I can tell they worked with Toho a fair bit on him this time around. the actors weren't all that bad, seeing as they aren't the stars of the movie anyhow really.

your opinion will vary of course, but im not sorry I went to go see it anyhow.

if you want to hear a real analysis of some past Godzilla movies tho, I highly recommend this guy: http://sfdebris.com/videos/films.php

Just saw it in 3D IMAX with my boys. It didn't suck but... I don't know. Not all together maybe?

My 12 yo loved it, probably because of all the military and sciency stuff. My 14 yo fell asleep in the middle.

Some of the action scenes were awesome in 3D - but some plot twist were not great.

We'll probably have to see it again on DVD when my husband gets back, which is fine. But just once more lol
