Whether you are a fan or not I think it's safe to say the NBA didn't feel the same without the Black Mamba. At least not to me.

Do you see him playing at a high level next year?

Kobe will score 20 per when healthy but probably will be either out or playing injured most of the season. He can still score and play D but not sure you can count on him for the entire season anymore.

A healthy Kobe is still on the top SG in the league.

Hmm yeah if he can stay healthy.

Damian will continue to improve though. As hard as it is to believe he was so much better this year than last year defensively. Another summer with Gary Payton will be very beneficial.

I honestly don't know what to expect. I think it's obvious that he could have returned last year and played, and it's pathetic that he screwed season ticket holders by not dong so, but they did need to tank and wasn't worth the risk of getting injured again with the way the season was going to end up.

I see two options, and I think it could go 50/50.

Option 1: He's super determined to prove the critics wrong, and put serious time on a shot that betters his past go-to 40% fade-away jumper. On top of that, he's studied film of elite pass first point guards, improved his court vision, and honestly cares about his assists as much as his shots. His scoring efficiency would go up even while his points are down, but the team moral is up and more total points are being scored. I see like a 20 8 4 on 50% shooting with this option.

Option 2: He plays like he did with Howard. Scoring is his number 1 priority, and a turnover machine. He'll get a few poverty triple doubles, and the stat keeper will continue to count the passes he made to players that had no chance to even catch the ball as a loose ball turnover on the person receiving the pass instead of adding to Kobe's already 5-6 game average. 25 5 4 with 5 turnovers on 43% FG.

Hopefully option 1.

eh, he needs the wade treatment, no back to back games, shoot/drive if open otherwise give the ball up, etc

he needs to be the 2.5 option on a team, no way he's gonna carry the lakers and stay healthy

I expect him to primarily work the post and take his shots with a fade or off pick&pop, less drives to the rim.

Still the #1 SG in the league, all-star is a given (unnecessary if you ask me, give the spot to a rising star), but by no means a great season, as he has to build chemistry with a new coach and a new team for the most part.

He needs a max contract type of star to shoulder a lot of the burden. Can't carry the Lakers like he used to do before the injuries.

TBH Kobe just needs to become a leader in the locker room and lead the young guys on the right path just how Brad Pitt told David Justice in Moneyball to do the same for his teammates. There is nothing he can do to bring this team to a championship and his days are numbered. And speaking of numbers there is no point for him to chase stats cause he is pretty much done at this point. Like I said, become a leader, and teach the young guys things only they can learn from a vet like him.

I think he'll play less than 55 games, and probably have his minutes reduced considerably.

As far as his production, I have no idea because it really depends on how he chooses to approach the game. He could embrace this chance to become more efficient and take better shots, be the unselfish Kobe we saw who averaged like 14 assists for a stretch, pick and choose his spots more. Or he could say "well my minutes are down and I'm getting close to the end of my career, better make sure and get my shots up so I can still be on pace to break the scoring record."

I'm guessing he'll be a on pretty limited minutes to start the season.

Lol @ how fast he lost his tough player persona.

He's now perfectly healthy and has had Derrick Rose level time off, and needs restrictions on his minutes? For what? Old bitch syndrome?

I love watching people convince themselves he will look like he did before. Just like they did last season when he looked like ass cheeks and then died.

The Lakers are absolutely dismal talent wise and Kobe's still delusional about his level of play so I can see him trying to channel his Kobe from the Smush/Kwame days but failing miserably because he's just not that dude anymore. 19ppg/3apg/4rpg on 39% shooting.

Somebody plz bump the prediction thread from last season where laker fans all posted 26 6 5 nonstop and then he went on to put up these stud numbers

13.8 6.3 4.3 on 42.5% and 19%

So I'm gunna say, 14 5 and 3. On like, 43% shooting.
