View Full Version : Why doesn't Kobe sign to OKC?

Take a pay cut. Form a fearsome trio with him, russey and durant. OKC need a SG. Kobe needs a ring.

He could play a secondary role but still get decent stats for this stage his career and maybe add a couple rings. His experience could even get him a FMVP if he goes ham for a series.

Not enough ball to go around this is coming from a Lakers fan. Kobe's personality will have KD crying everyday.

Why would he go to OKC if he wants a ring, LOL.

Kobe rings = 5

OKC = 1 back in the Seattle days

KD should force his way to LA.

He already signed a 2 year extension with the Lakers for 23 mil next season then 25 mil in 2015. Even if he agreed to a trade no team will be able to pay that salary while keeping their current star players.

This, among other reasons.

LOL @ how that team would function as far as shot distribution and touches if you added Kobe.

Kobe's only in it for the loot which is obv by his last contract and OKC doesn't have 24M/YR to give out.

Because he is and wants to remain a franchise player at this point in his career. (inb4 "but he wanted out")

Dirk, Timmy, Kobe, Wade - not many of those left. If he would have switched, he should have done it a few years back, when the coaching situation got out of hand.

Durant would have a breakdown if he had to deal with Kobe's intensity.

This.

It's more than rings and money, aside from it would never work, he in LA. It's like being in New York or Miami. Would you ever leave the city of LA for a city that doesn't even compare THIS late in his career?

Kobe 2001 Playoffs: 29.4, 7.3, 6.1, 1.6, 0.8 on 47% fg and 34,8,6, on 50% fg against the Kings and Spurs in b2b series (2 biggest threats to the Lakers) and yet somehow it was all Shaq right.... Lol at thinking Shaq would be winning those rings without Kobe and vice versa. They were 1a and 1b. And Kobe for the better part of the 2001 playoffs was the catalyst of the Lakers team.

Durant will be a Celtic.

Rondo + Durant + good young pieces like Bradley, Sullinger, Jeff Green, Olynyk, big pick coming up and a hoard of 1st for the next decade.

OKC is forever cursed. Why? Clayton Bennett

His shady dealings will always cloud that franchise. OKC will never win a championship. Book it.

Because he doesn't want to take a giant pay cut. He doesn't want to play third fiddle to Westbrook and Durant. And he doesn't want to move from a major market and nba franchise to a small market team in OKC.

lets not act like even if this stupid idea did happen, that kobe isnt the epitome of THE missing piece for okc.....a wing who can hit the trey but also get his shot all day while being an elite defender....lol....add kobes iq and coaching that team could probably take lebron to 7 games.

Except that OKC is ranked #1 best NBA city in the country.

I just don't see 36 year old Kobe playing elite defense anymore in 2015. That ship has sailed lol. Lets see if he can even run up and down the court for 30 minutes again after this last 18 months
