A SSD will make the most difference of anything. It probably has 4GB of RAM which is plenty

if you buy a samsung evo SSD it has migration software... ive never used it, since i typically use paragon or acronis to copy, but im assuming you dont have access to a desktop to have both drives connected at the same time... but yes migrate to a SSD then run the drive optimization tools that come with it and enable the RAPID mode... the samsung SSDs are the best for the money right now

Also do a clean install...and never buy HP laptops as they have max bloatware.

as all said SSD makes the biggest difference..and try increasing RAM as browsers and webpages nowadays take up lot of RAM..my Google Chrome takes upto 1GB of RAM

I don't think he wants to upgrade its hardware guys.

You should defrag the HDD and get the latest graphics drivers. I am assuming you are using windows 7.

Optimally you'd format your HDD and perform a clean install as mentioned above, but ain't nobody got time fo dat.

Disable autorun on almost any program. I personally browse with firefox and adblock/noscript, and because of this and the fact that I know not to doubleclick weird email attachments that end on .exe I don't need third party anti virus software or a firewall. The win7/win8 stuff does suffice and doesn't use a lot of ressources.

Defrag your hard drive, download CCleaner, really good for optimization

this ..auslogics disk defrag is my fav. and ccleaner is good

also right click on C drive and do a disk cleanup..it will remove all the cache and random crap making your system faster.

and go to services.msc and msconfig and disable all the programs u dont use..google for what can and what cannot be disable...this last step makes the biggest difference

Defrag is the only effective way to speed up your laptop if you don't have an SSD. Otherwise check unnecessary ********* programs and disable them.

-Run a virus and maleware scan. Download Avast and Malewarebytes
-Run all important windows updates
-run CCleaner
-Run a disk defrag

There isn't much you can do with that poverty laptop. The processor is most likely what's hurting you.

Re-install Windows is probably your best bet, other than adding an SSD.

More RAM probably wouldn't make a difference, unless you only have 1 GB or something.

Just reformat it. It doesnt take much time and Itll run like new. Use or borrow an external harddrive to back up your data.

SSD is a worthy investment tho

SSD def. isn't worth it for that old laptop. If you format and reinstall windows make sure you have a copy of Windows 7 to install... PEople are leaving that part out.
