View Full Version : Texans 1st Overall Pick

Has anyone actually considered the best move for the Texans could potentially be to trade out of #1?

Historically teams have been able to fleece others in trading down. Texans are in a rebuilding phase and therefore need as much talent as possible. Even if they traded down later into the 1st round they could still pick-up a QB at least.

It could also work out better for them in the fact that in the past, there have been an alarming number of busts that were #1 overall picks. In before JaMarcus Russel, Sam Bradford, Matthew Stafford.

This might not be too much of an unrealistic situation too, given the fact that the new staff has a decent amount of ex-patriots influence infused in it.

In my very humble opinion, IF they were to get stuck with the pick and not trade, you have to take the best player available and that's Sammy Watkins. It would be Clowney if he had a more impressive year or there weren't many question marks about his work ethic.

Unfortunately, this is the NFL, where media and public perception means a ton, thus I don't see it happening.

I personally wouldn't touch any of the QBs within the top 15.

I would move down for a #5 pick and try to pick up a 2nd or 3rd rounder while at it

Trade the #1 pic to Dallas for Tony Romo
Dallas drafts Johnny Manziel
Jerry Jones and Manziel imagine the potential for accidents waiting to happen

I wouldnt call it a rebuilding phase in houston...one or 2 key players and they are back in the superbowl hunt, they have a ton of talent. But I do agree they should trade the pick. This would be a great year to trade down, super deep draft and will be teams wanting to get up and draft one of the qbs(lol), sammy watkins, clowney, one of the LT's etc.

Trade down to jax, Cleveland aka stupid teams. Get their first round pick along with their 2nd, 3rd. Trade scauby for more picks. Draft Mike goat Evans. Draft mccaron 3rd round. Suck in 2014 again. Get number 1 pick in 2015. Draft Jameis Winston. Re-sign watt. We back on goating status.

You have to have a trading partner to match...I don't see anyone really dying to draft any of these QBs. The Rams got a ton for RG3 because he was rated so highly. The Browns traded a bunch for Richardson because they're stupid.

I don't think people see the 1 pick as worth a ton this year.

If they're smart they will just take Bridgewater and be done with it. Right back into playoff contention.

You didnt get the memo. Bridgewater sucked ass at his pro day. Ran a 4.78 and missed targets

Drafting Johnny is the right choice OP. Cowboys should trade Romo and Jerry for Johnny.

I do really like Manziel but Texans fans have been complaining about QBs for years. Manziel is better than both Bortles and Bridgewater.

LOL yeah okay. you would rather have a 5'11 QB over jadaveon clowney or greg robinson- why exactly?

i'd be less surprised to see someone claim they'd never watch another Texans game if they DID draft manziel. not sure you really understand what's going on here.

The Texans should take either Manziel or Clowney at number 1. If they don't like either of them trade down and draft Watkins or that linebacker everyone's talking about

because manziel will touch the ball every possession of the game and if he can make plays on 20% of them then that will be easily 100 more plays that clowney's lazy ass can make. the texans aren't like raiders or browns because they are a complete team. Basically they are the colts from two years ago, just a qb away from playoffs.

Don't really see a franchise can't miss QB in this draft. Would probably trade the pick to a team that wants to compete now and would pick up a guy like Clowney and pick up some additional guys in the 2nd-4th rounds.

At this point, the Texans' best strategic move would be to leave the NFL and try to join the NCAA as a college team.

In b4 Pats trade Wilfork, Mallett, 1st, 2nd round picks for #1 spot and draft Clowney or Watkins

Wishful thinking, it cost the redskins three firsts and a 2nd to move from 6 to 2, lol@ thinking Wilfork, Mallett, trading 1sts and a 2nd round pick moves them from 29-1.

NO ONE is going to pay anywhere close to what the Skins paid. Strong coconut.
