CBS Sports boss Sean McManus said Tony Gonzalez will bring "a fresh insightful perspective" to the program. Obviously, he did not think either Marino or Sharpe could deliver in a similar fashion.

"While we welcome Tony, we want to acknowledge Dan Marino and Shannon Sharpe who have contributed greatly to the success of the 'NFL Today' for more than a decade," McManus said in a statement. "Dan and Shannon are true Hall of Famers on the field and in front of the camera."

Gonzo is a charismatic dude. Shannon Sharpe was annoying, and Marino always seemed a bit uptight or tense, not real comfortable.

This past playoff run every time they brought up how important a second championship would be for Peyton's legacy, it made me cringe. It looked like Marino wanted to climb under a rock.

CBS needs to stay consistent and stop changing hosts. They're like ABC's NBA coverage

Didn't Marino hook up with a co-worker at CBC and get her pregnant?

Marino, sure, but Sharpe? Come on now. NFL Network has best lineup and I expect Shannon to join those clowns

Marino didn't really bring much to the table personality wise other than an integral quarterback perspective. Sharpe was a cool dude, he'll probably be scooped up by NFLN or Fox Sports.

Sharpe looked pathetic when he had his racist tirade on the whole Incognito issue when the story first broke. What a douche.

meh I still think Sharpe is the GOAT TE.
Then again I'm a biased Broncos fan.

Well at least he was good at his position. ESPN is so ****ing annoying with its people. BRB the bald hasselback and the bald trent dilfer ripping on QB's and other players when they were complete potatoes themselves.

FOX Pregame show master race

from the little that I've seen of CBS, Marino was awful. No charisma at all.

As an unbiased third party, you're high if you think Sharpe was better than Gonzo.

Marino annoys me. And his Wonderlic score was the same as Vince Young's.
