View Full Version : $50k Stolen from Ed Reeds Car in Houston

MusicalHam

Ed Reed withdrew 50k from a bank in Houston, then left it in a brief case in his 2006 Audi in the parking lot of a second bank. When he returned to the car to get the money and make a bank transfer, his window was smashed and the briefcase was stolen.

Edit
It may have been in a bag, or an envalope too. who knows

Well, he stole that 50k from the Texans anyways.

Thats why you dont leave 50k in your car.

Why did he withdraw the cash to go physically deposit it elsewhere?

Why does he drive an 8, almost 9 year old car?

Why hasn't he retired?

Dont even know how you withdraw that much from a bank.

If you were going to move it from one bank to another why not write a check...

This. I don't care how much of a baller you are or think you are. Who leaves 50K sitting in your vehicle?

How did the thief know he had 50k in his car? Seems like he was stalked.

50K to him is like $20 to us. He probably thought nothing of leaving that in his car for a little bit.

Exactly, why would he do that when he could just blow it by leaving it in his car to get stolen. Lmao.

Should have used that money to buy a newer Audi. Dude is driving the same car i am ffs.

No but it's a 2006 Audi, the maintenance on that thing alone would likely justify getting a new one.

What would you do if you stole 50k from reed? I would finally get a Costco membership and go ham.

I would invest half of it in low risk mutual funds and then take the other half over to my friend Asadulah who works in securities...

Seems like a drug deal, or some other illegal activity like many in this thread are saying. Someone he knew or someone he was about to deal with probably took the money. If you're going to move money from one bank to another, there's wire transfers or ACH. So to physically withdrawal money and move it is a very risky idea considering the alternatives, and IMO is strong proof he was up to something else.

In any case, any withdrawls or deposits over $10k have "cash transaction reports" called CTRs filed with the treasury dept. So if he was up to wrongdoing, govt may already be investigating

Why the hate on future hall of famer ER? He clearly is frugal with his $$ and wanted to avoid the $20 bank wire fee.
That's why Ed's ballin in 06' Audi's and we're just Sport Misc'ing our time away.

I didn't know this was a thing until it happened to me. Hoodrats just wait in bank parking lots waiting for someone to walk out with an envelope, then follow them to their next destination and break into the car.

Last year I pulled out $500 the day before a Mardi Gras trip. They followed me to get gas and then back to work and broke into my car.

Probably had a friend steal it from his car so could claim it as a casualty and theft loss on his taxes.

I don't think anyone could be dumb enough to actually leave 50k in cash unguarded.

Definitely had to be up to something. Okay.. so Ed is old school and wants to physically deposit the money into another account.. that's cool. But why leave it out in the car while you're in the 2nd bank, then walk back out to get it.

brb gonna go ask and make sure they're cool with this big of a deposit before I bring it in..

da fuk?
