No more sanchize or gene "dumbo" smith. he will have a great offense + QB. He could make joique bell into a better power back. The defense could embody him and play up to their potential.

he also loves to win and won't be complacent like schwartz after going 8-8 with a good team. hell, even rex led a shyt team to 8-8(this year if they win).

also no nyc media (just rob parker to call people cornball brothas)

Stafford is a great QB?

he threw for like 5k yards one season, so i'd say yes.

many would consider 2013 a down year for him, but currently like 4.5k yards, 28 TD, 19 INT, 58% completion....not bad mane

they would need to draft some dbs then yea a good defense. rex ryans defense is all about the d line and dbs. i could play lb for the jets right now

The Lions main problem is pure disciplinary, I think Rex Ryan would be a terrible fit

This. I like Rex, I'm a Jets fan, but he seems to go by the saying "boys will be boys." He is not the disciplinary type and what I have seen from the Lions, penalties, conduct, etc. they really need a disciplined head coach.

Give any QB 700 attempts with Megatron and see what happens.

Did I just see 58% completion rate described as "not bad"

Lions HC or Steelers DC if Lebeau retires.

I like rex but he's not getting it done at the Jets.

I would rather see him go to the Lions and stay out of the AFC.

Reason being you don't want want to see him coach the Lions or you don't want him to leave MSU?

Him as HC with Narduzzi as DC, Dennard with our 1st rounder

That would be a disaster for both teams. Dantonio's style wouldnt work for pro players, just like Schiano's doesn't work.

Narduzzi's defense is predicated around stopping things that college teams do well, and is vulnerable to things pro teams do well. You can't play press coverage every down in the NFL.

He's had one great season in his career.... its not a down year when hes only had one great year.

Rex to Washington is a lock.

Lions HC or Steelers DC if Lebeau retires.

sadly, it would never happen.

I like rex but he's not getting it done at the Jets.

he's a DC. LeBeau sucked as a head coach too

why? tomlins had pretty good success as steelers coach

his success is tied directly to the players he inherited from Cowher.

I'd take McCarthy in a heartbeat.

grass is always greener.

I agree with some here, i can't see Rex doing any better than Jim in Detroit. They need someone more stern.

My top 5 are as follows.

Shaw
Whisenhunt
Cowher (.001% chance but you never know)
O'Brien
Zimmer

The Lions need a coach who is a proven winner at the NFL level, and they also need a coach who can instill some discipline in the team. Jim Schwatrz rinky-dink chickensh*t disciplinary approach is clearly not working. Word is he also plays favorites and babies the star players.

They also BADLY need a QB coach. He has terrible footwork; chronic happy feet, throws off his back foot, and does this sidearm crap. Jim Schwartz babies him and won't fix the problem. When my sister in law can tell he has bad mechanics, that's saying something.

Whisenhunt is so much an OC, does a great job.

Detroit has the 1 thing Cowher would require (a QB)

Zimmer is a pure DC. I think he'd be downright scary what he could do with that defense though

Acquire Rex Ryan.

Mike Nolan was a head coach before. That's why he's not a head coach now.

Rex went to back to back AFC championship games, beating out Brady and Manning, with Mark Sanchez as his QB. That's akin to Moses parting the red sea. Rex suffers from the same problems most unsuccessful coaches do. He has no QB. The fact that he's 7-8 with Geno Smith is unbelievable. I didn't think they'd win 3 games (srs) nevermind 7. I'm a Dolphins fan saying this. If Rex becomes a FA coach, I would love to see him come down to Miami and fix our defense.

I could see it working, I think Rex has been humbled since he started and was doing the whole "I'm one of the boyz" thing, now that he has experienced looking like a fool with a **** team he is a lot more mellow.
