View Full Version : The next great NFL safety........Eric Reid

This guy has been absolutely amazing, exceeded any and all expectations I had for him. He had to come in and replace a Pro-Bowl safety in Dashon Goldson and not only has he played up to Goldon's level, he's gone well beyond. He's been tremendous in coverage and has rarely been challenged deep by any QB this season. He's rarely out of position and does a brilliant job making calls in the secondary. I'm not sure I could be any happier with Reid, he's a rookie playing like a 10 year veteran and making huge plays for the 49ers defense. He has 3 interceptions, 5 passes defended and a fumble recovery already this season. Not only is Reid playing well but his abilities in coverage and being able to make calls in the secondary has freed Donte Whitner up and he's having a very good season as well. All in all, this guy looks like he has a very bright NFL future, prototypical size, speed, strength, intelligence and he's put it together very quickly.

Mel Kiper and his "there were at least 6 better safeties in the draft" can go eat a dick.

Did a group project with the guy. He's awesome. Glad to see him succeed.

Agreed. I thought he would be the best NFL safety of his draft class.

Coaches and teammates have been raving about his maturity and intelligence from the get go. Whitner especially has been effusive in his praise, throwing out a bunch of backhanded disses to Goldson in the process. It also helps that Reid can be counted on to not cost the 49ers yards via at least one boneheaded penalty per game. I thought he'd be a good player, I didn't think he would be this good so early on. It was telling that even Aaron Rodgers wasn't throwing into Reid's general area in the first game.

Dial is getting some burn now too due to all the injuries at NT, he's packed on about 30 pounds more.

Reids very good. I think in the long run Tyrann takes the title

Yep, but Brock has now been playing extraordinarily well alongside Brown with 3 interceptions in 3 weeks, plus they have Eric Wright coming back. Them's the brakes when your team is stocked, some guys get away and that is with Chris Culliver, arguably their top CB out with an ACL injury. The upshot is that Baalke drafted Culliver, Reid and Cooper, so his track record with defensive backs thus far looks spectacular.

negged!

Two different positions obviously and they didn't cut Marcus because they didn't want him on the team. Just gambled that they could stash him on the PS and lost. Hurts every week he has another great game for you guys.

Yeah....no. But for a 7th round pick last year, he's brought back massive value in spades.

Craig Loston is another guy who will be coming out in the upcoming draft, he's a good looking NFL strong safety prospect.

Knew as soon as they drafted him he'd be an asset right away. Still didn't think he'd catch on as quick as he did and be THAT good. Really happy with him.

Still liked hitner doee lol

Starting to think Baalke might be a real life wizard. Not sure how many lines of coke he was doing during the 2012 draft but otherwise he has been hitting homeruns all over the place.

No sure if siriushaha he's my friend. I grew up with him. So I always troll and say he's the best safety.

But srs, he had 3 pass deflections against King Brady(which were intended for Gronk) and one int for a td last week.

He has been really good. I am also excited to see Tank Carradine get some snaps. I was wanting him the draft. Bunch of talk about him being a mid 1st round pick.

Me too. God knows we need the depth at DL right now in the worst way too.

Plus all eyes will be on him cuz he's the first pick from the Alex Smith trade.

He was a solid pick and smartly put on PUP. Dude is raw, but athletically he can be a beast. Dude is rangey as hell. Got them long arms. He doubt he is a 10+ sack kind of guy, but dude is going to be solid.

SF had a legit draft and offseason, but they goof'd on trying to make Harper an H-Back. Dude is an Anquan Boldin clone in terms of size and playing style and ran a 4.5 40 to Boldins 4.8. When SF snagged him from Seattles squad i was thinking it was a genius move. I was also pumped to see Patton about to get some real snaps too. I think he would have been a big boost and a steal in the 4th rd. I read alot of stuff about Kap talking him up big time too.

I hate harbough though :)

Yeah this draft looks really promising...hell their 7th round pick who unfortunately was claimed by KC before niners could get him on the PS is arguably their best corner right now. Harper was drafted by Seattle tho, Niners just lost him to Green Bay anyways - had to make room for Dial and he didn't clear waivers.

And yeah Patton was just about to steal the #2 job and then got hurt :(

And don't blame you on Harbaugh lol, he's the guy you love if he's coaching your team and hate if he's not.

Get used to the name ''Will Hill''. You'll be hearing it alot in the upcoming years. Dude's a straight goon who would be in the streets killing mofos right now if he wasn't in the NFL, finally got his act together and he's going to be a top 5 SS in the league for years to come.
