Hey guys so about 2 years ago I lost like 100 pounds and was doing great despite loose skin. Started putting on muscle and looking better, then my elbow was hurting me slightly and eventually got worse. Went a saw a dr and he said its a partially torn UCL and to stop lifting but what he has said hasn't helped at all, so I made a appointment with a specialist to see what to do. But these past few months I've been waiting I've gained like 20 pounds... It's hard to eat clean and healthy when I'm not working out bc I feel like I'm not benefiting from it as best as I can if I was lifting and putting on muscle.

Not sure what to do here and was looking for some help

Thanks guys and gals

Sorry to hear man thats really tough. You really do need to make sure your diet is under control. That doesnt mean you cant enjoy the finer things in life, but IIFYM :)

Keep record of what your eating and you will be fine. In the time being maybe do some cardio to give your diet a bit more flexibilty? but once again... IIFYM!

Good luck mate.

I have 2 bad elbows, 1 with ulnar nerve entrapment and another with tendinitis, but that doesnt stop me from lifting weights. I just have to be more careful about the weight and which exercises to do.

You just need to counts your calories, weight everything you eat and you wont gain weight, it is that simple.

And of course if you find it easy to eat over maintenance, I would advise you NOT to eat calorie dense foods, they make it ssooo much easier to go over your calories.

Even if you cant do some lifts because of the elbow, I`m sure you can still do squats and dead lifts, since they dont put stress in the elbow.

Just because you can't workout doesnt mean you dont need to keep your nutrition in check. Get a meal plan set up, commit to it! You'll have your slips and falls...everyone does...just fall forward...and most importantly, get back up! Just because you cant workout doesnt give you an excuse to just screw your nutrition up.

Find lifts you can do.

SQUAT. When you're done, SQUAT MORE.

srs.

I had a dislocated shoulder, compound fracture of my collar bone, and now my left arm is much longer (hangs lower) than my right. I don't bench as much as I could otherwise. Start safe, work up. Don't miss the workouts you can do.

the elbow will heal, either that or you need to find a workaround. there are 2 solutions to every problem.

Great job on the weight loss by the way. You know what needs to be done and you know that when you are not working out that its even more important to watch your diet.

Most likely what i think is happeneing is you can stand the thought of eating that stuff again after doing it for so long. thats what happened to me. the thought of this same meals again justy was not sounding like something I could do any longer.

to combat this, use your down time to come up with some new meals that meet your needs. Its fun and easy to do and will keep you fresh and interested in your diet and focussed on your goals.

I eat alot of rotisserie chicken. they are already cooked and taste great. put some rice and veggies with it and you are in. Either this or get some corn tortillas, salsa and lettuce and make some tacos out of it.

i do the same with ground beef. i get taco seasoning mix and make it into taco meat. i can eat taocs or just mix it with rice and veggies and its very tasty.

just a couple ideas to get you started. best of luck with the elbow.
