velocity is more of an indicator of pitcher PED use than control....just like PEDs as a hitter won't make you see the ball better (inb4 amphetamine)

HR/9 innings

last year - .41

this year - .9

that will do it

I'm on my phone so if someone could post Gio's season line before his start against Detroit where he gave up 10ER in 2.1IP(it may have been 4 innings I'm not sure) ill throw you some reps.

Even after that start he's still putting up a very too season. Obviously you can't erase those lines but starts like that can inflate a seasons line and I'm sure it'll even back out. IIRC his ERA was/xfip was floating right around the 3.00 mark.

So up until the start against Detroit Gio was rocking a 2.97 ERA in 21 games. He pitched 3.1 innings and gave up 10ER(2 HR) in that game against Detroit. Bumped his ERA from 2.97 to 3.57.

So yeah. I'm not discounting it because every pitcher deals with a start or two that really wrecks their ERA but acting like Gio turned into some scrub is fuking ridiculous. He is still one of the best pitchers in the NL.
