Phil Knight of peace.

Estimates he's donated over 300mil to the Oregon athletics department over the years. He and Nike basically put Oregon on the CFB map.

Buying players through their facilities. Before the new facilities, Oregon was pretty much irrelevant. Good job Dave man.

I love a pretty locker room as much as the next guy but at these public institutions of higher learning I sure as hell hope tax dollars aren't being used to build those these cathedrals.

I'm sure Nike probably footed the bill entirely for Oregon's though.

god damn how much does this type of sht help recruiting.
it seems like it could bring top recruits from across the country there.

i bet the players practically live in those facilities. shts like some kind of fitness resort

Same reason why companies like Google coddle their employees so much. Give them everything they need and make it an enjoyable place to be, they'll never leave.

There is a reason an obscurely small place in the pacific north west is a football power house.

Wow very impressive. Too bad they haven't really won a lot of major bowl games or natty championships to show off....They really don't have a great history to show off...I mean who is their best player of all time, Jeremiah Masoli??? lol

Maybe they should start investing in better scouts then spending so much money on how they look with over the top facilities, jerseys, and playing fields.

looks like a good place to chill and have meetings.... but this looks like a place to train and win championships

Feels kind of like when that guy that no one hates but no one really likes buys a 40k car right after high school hoping it will get him more friends and finally get him laid.

That guy never got laid, and Oregon never won a national championship.

From a pure football perspective, you don't need that kinda fluff and luxury to win major bowls or a title. If it works like they probably intend it to (as a recruiting tool for elite talent) then it's worth every penny I guess.

The program basically has no history or prestige to play up, so they're spending like crazy to be "the program of the future" etc. I don't blame them, but it does seem like they're overcompensating pretty hard.

Pretty much nothing but a recruiting tool. As far as football is concerned, you don't need that kinda fluff and luxury to win major bowls or a title.
