View Full Version : Extra Carbs for my Macros. Maltodextrin?

Hey,

I was wondering, I am cutting at the moment and my macros are 200/200/50. I am 170lbs at 5'9. Workout 6-7 days 1-2h daily.

After I put my daily intake together I get a ratio of 200 protein / 110 carbs / 90 fat. I can lower my fat intake but what should I do with the amout of carbs? Should I get some maltodextrin to supplement it or should I leave it right there? I am intermittent fasting right now.

that fat seems very high in comparison to your other intakes. I would eat more carbs as said above. Its not hard to add some white rice here and there, some fruit etc. Maltodextrin should be a last resort if you truly cannot physically eat any more whole foods but at only 110 carbs I think you have plenty of room to add more whole foods. Lower your fat a little cos if your cutting you still want to be in a deficit.

200 protein / 110 carbs / 90 fat makes 2,241 kcal. With my workout etc. I still am in a slight deficit but I really have to lower the fat to 50.

I was wondering what would be the best carb intake to get to the 200 but keeping the deficit...?

50g of fat is a bit low. You should get .4g/lb BW as a minimum (at least 68g).

I was aiming for 40/40/20 rule of 220/220/50.

Dont lower the fat, hitting your fat minimum is essential, even at 50 you are more than likely eating below the minimum standard.

Are you cutting? 2200 seems a bit low, especially given how much you workout. If you are what's your reason for adding something like malto to the mix?

Yes, I was planing to do so. Because I needed to get some more carbs for my macros so I checked the best avaiable source for carbs without putting my kcal budget in danger.

How much do you think I should use as a kcal budget?

...just find a food with carbs amd eat it, it foesnt meed to be the same thing every day.
