So I've been absent from nutrition and the gym for quite some time. Military transfer, new baby, etc. has me out of a schedule allowing me to eat and workout habitually in line with anything considered a training regiment.

My questions are how are most of the ones that frequent the board?

Has anything positive about beta-alanine been substantiated?

Anything new in the world of nutrition I should know?

Not sure on Beta-alanine, I don't really stay up on any supplement research.

As far as new information is concerned, what time frame are we talking here, a few months? a year?

Posters come, posters go; same as it ever was.

There are a few studies floating around showing some benefit from it's use. This recent thread in the O35 covers the topic fairly thoroughly:

Not really, but there have been some interesting, and hilarious, threads in this forum recently. Some from "personal trainers" spouting their usual 'company line' of broscience about the requirement to eat 8 meals a day, and the importance of "the insulin spike," etc. The replies shooting them down are always good for teh lulz.

One of the more humorous threads involves a competitive bodybuilder's vid, where he rambles on about how he's afraid to eat a Pop Tart due to the "chemicals" in it, while it's quite obvious that he pins himself with every manner of illegal PEDs to come down the pike.

Read an article maybe 8-9 months ago suggesting beta-alanine effects to pre workout benefits are showing promise in research.

Between 8 months to a year. I'm not a supplement fiend, protein, creatine and a multi is typically all I will buy. Just curious if beta-alanine research made anymore headway.

The more things change the more they stay the same is what they say right? Lulz.

Thanks for the reply, will be attempting to be more nutritionally vigilant and hitting the gym hard but learning a new job, school and sleep deprivation have taken its toll.
